    @Taco critter

I don’t like doing Doordash super late at night because of three things...

    1. Drunk drivers
    2. Overzealous cops looking for drunk drivers
    3. Unconstitutional DUI checkpoints staffed by overzealous cops

I’ve encountered all three of the above while driving at night, though thankfully not while dashing!

No checkpoints here in Texas. But plenty of drunk drivers

Yeah, they’re considered unconstitutional in Texas, right? Another reason I should move to Texas...

Texas is also a business haven!

What do you think of DUI checkpoints? I was hit by a drunk driver once and I still loathe them so that should tell you something...

I think they are better than them finding out you're too drunk to drive after you've had a wreck and killed somebody.

I prefer roving patrols; My uncle is a cop in New Jersey, a lieutenant with about 26 years on the force. He thinks DUI checkpoints are unconstitutional!

The restaurants are slow and inefficient, and they don’t pay shit...

    $6.07 for McDonald’s; $5 for Wendy’s?!?!

It would not be a big deal if the order was ready to pick up when I got there, but Wendy's makes you go through the drive-thru and place the order yourself. This wastes time that could be spent picking up more lucrative orders.

Thankfully, Doordash seems to have stopped sending me into New Hope.

Probably gonna stop going to Bacco Bistro in Doylestown...

    The food is great, but...

    • The parking lot of the shopping center in which it is located is a zoo.
    • I got into an altercation with a customer over waiting for the bathroom here once.
    • They’ve recently instituted a “line” policy where Dashers must wait behind other customers to get orders instead of just getting the order and leaving.

Right now I am at a place called Lovebird that has historically been speedy with orders. Doordash told me to pick up the order by 7:23; It is now 7:35 and the order isn’t ready!

    :annoyed:

If there’s one thing I really have a problem with, it’s people giving me an attitude, especially over the most trivial of situations.

My truck was in the shop because the rear axle seal blew out, and I cleaned out the truck before dropping it off. I forgot to put my Doordash-provided hot bag back in the truck.

99% of the time, the orders I get are all crammed into one big bag and too big for the hot bag.

I took an order at this hoagie place on Route 611 in Warrington, and the owner of said establishment immediately got on my ass about not having my hot bag, taking it a bit too personally. He got so uppity about it that I started to get uncomfortable.

I ultimately ended up taking the order to the customer who lived about two miles away.

However, while this particular establishment has great food, I will not be returning as a Dasher. As if the owner’s abrasive attitude wasn’t bad enough, it is also illegal to make left turns out of the parking lot, which requires more effort on my part if the order is going to Warminster or into Montgomery County.

I got a little over eleven bucks for hoagie shop pickup, and that was like five minutes from my house; Minutes before, I got a request to pick up from the McDonald’s all the way in New Hope for like $15.85. For less than five dollars more, I was expected to drive all the way to New Hope...

Yeah, right. Doordash should have figured out by now that I am no longer driving into New Hope!

I got two orders before the one from the hoagie place. One was from the McDonald’s in New Hope and one of was from the Wendy’s in Doylestown. I forget which order they came in.

One particularly irritating scenario that happens quite often is that somebody working at one of the many retail establishments or hair salons surrounding Wendy’s will order from there. The order I got from Wendy’s the other night would have netted me like $4.85, and keep in mind that particular Wendy’s is about 10 miles from my house. A gallon of gas is about $2.75 in my area right now, so you do the math...

Even if I was right in Doylestown Borough, I wouldn’t have taken that order because I hate picking up from Wendy’s, which requires the Dasher to place the order. A lot of times, that particular Wendy’s is out of the drink or sauce requested by the customer as well. So why, for less than five bucks, should I wait in the drive-thru line and place the order myself?!?!

Yeah, but I’m becoming more and more picky about where I pick up, and my “acceptance rate” has suffered because of it...

And McDonald’s used to have the same bullshit policy requiring Dashers to place the order themselves, only they preferred the dasher to come inside instead of using the drive-thru.

I actually cancelled a dash and walked out of the newly rebuilt McDonald’s on Main Street in Doylestown because the employees were taking their sweet time...

Between DoorDash and my real job I’m making plenty of money, but the bullshit-to-profit ratio is starting to come into play here...

I do it for one of two
    reasons:

    1. I need pocket change and don’t feel like dipping into my checking or savings account.
    2. I’m bored.
All Uber Eats and Doordash have succeeded in doing is racking up the miles on my truck. I had about 90K on the clock when I started doing Uber Eats in December 2018. Less than a year later, I am approximately 116 miles from hitting 107K. Granted, a lot of that came from driving to car shows and three 150-mile round trip weekend vacations, but still...

A friend of mine thinks I’ll be surpassing 150K soon if I keep dashing...

I’ll admit that I got really excited at about 95K miles and drove a bit more than usual to hit 100K, but I generally do not go out of my way to put miles on my truck. I expect I’ll be hitting 150K around the time of my next driver’s license renewal (which is March 2023).
