BUYER BEWARE: 3rd Gen Tacoma Heads-Up Display (HUD)

It’s a Plug-N-Play so it allows for you to plug your OBD OEM Connector into the New Connector, but then you will get a New One to replace it. That way you will have one to access in your truck. Otherwise, that would be a huge pain in you know what. My Vendors are really big with making sure this happens. When I originally was taking my time to pick the right Vendor, this was really big to me. I didn’t just want anyone. I wanted the Vendor that paid attention to detail and really loved the OEM Functions and Features of a vehicle. Don’t get me wrong, there are a lot of great customizations out there, but sometimes I think people and companies can get carried away and it takes away from the actual vehicle.

 

My Vendor had their Owner and main Engineer at SEMA looking at my Truck testing it. They are back at their testing facility currently making the model now. They will be testing it all week long. Then they are sending me out the first model to install. Shoot video. Test on my Truck. Give Feedback. Then go from there. The best thing about my Vendor is, they will not release it until it is Perfect to my Engineers liking. I will raise this question to him and see what his response is though. That is a great question.

Edit: I already received an update with an answer....we get some. It’s 0-3K/M difference

 

UPDATE:

The answer to this question I received is unfortunately not. You would need to mirror your phone to it so the Engineer is going to look into seeing how he can DIY a connection to it for me for this to happen. Which is another product that I will be releasing soon for you guys.

 

At the top of this thread you can click on where it says WATCH THREAD and then it will ask if you’d like to be notified etc. That is a great way to stay up-to-date. It is hard for me to notify members individually. I’m sorry. There are just so many of you and I have too many mods. I hope you understand. I would absolutely love to be to do that. At some point I will have a website where this will be able to happen and you will be able to get this notification. If things ever slow down so I can finish it.

You will have no issues here. That’s the best part about my Kits. They are Plug-N-Play. Easy installation, but easy to remove when you need to go back to OEM!!

I’m thinking the price will be $200 based on the customization that this device will have that I’m putting into it that say the Camry one doesn’t seem to have from my research. This is my plan. If you guys would rather I not make it as custom and keep it more generic to keep the price down, I can do that too. Please give me feedback. I’m all ears. I can keep it generic like the Camry and do like $150 like them, depending on the Molding cost that come back today obviously, or customize it and do like $200 for the Tacoma and make it Special.

Some Customizations:

• Color-Match Dash
• Tacoma Logo (Instead of HUD)
• OEM Blue LED or Close
• Truck Icon (Instead of a Car)

 

I personally think the extra 50 to keep it less generic looking is the way to go. If you're going this far to keep it from looking clunky, may as well make it clean!

I agree. Might as well go all the way and spend $50 and make it special to the Tacoma.

I’m in for the customization, so it looks factory. So far I think you are on track.

Do we have any idea if we can have turn by turn GPS displayed on the HUD?

 

Sincere question: other than having a stock / built-in appearance, what makes this unit that much more functionally desirable than, say one of the more competitively priced units that go for less than half the price?
