I’ve never gotten a DUI, and when I’m that drunk I call an Uber!

I know a few people who have gotten a DUI; Most of them lost their licenses for a few months, but a few didn't because it was first offense and/or they were weren't that far above the legal limit. They never drove drunk again, and are productive members of society. One of my friends lost their license for six months not because they were actually drunk, but because they got pulled over for being a 20-year old driving a $500 shitbox '92 Saturn with a group of people in the car late at night, and then blew a staggering (sarcasm) .02 BAC. About ten grand in various expenses, and again, they lost their license for six months! Three more weeks and that person would have been 21 and probably sent on their way. Further proof that law enforcement should probably be called revenue generation.

That said, I believe that people who continue to drive drunk should probably get their licenses permanently revoked. I heard of one guy in the Midwest who effectively got life in prison for being a habitual drunk driver. He got enough DUIs in his 40-something years for two frat houses worth of college students!

Here's one who got life in prison, but it's a woman from Texas...

This is Texas though; They don't fuck around in Texas!

I actually agree with the laws in Texas; DUI checkpoints are considered unconstitutional in Texas, but if you are a repeat DUI offender, punishments are harsh! Only the people who deserve to get punished actually get punished! Innocent motorists are not hassled!

This upstanding citizen should most certainly NOT get his driver's license back! Let him drink himself to death if that's his inclination, but don't EVER let him behind the wheel of a motor vehicle again! I wouldn't even trust this guy to ride a bicycle on a public street!

Yeah, but is that mandatory jail? Doesn't mention it in the article.

A first time can get up to a year in jail in MA, but that's almost never done. 3rd offense is mandatory 6 months.

A 1-year license suspension about right for the guy who hit my truck, but the only reason he got a jail sentence of 40 days to be served on weekends was because he got a really got lawyer.

Right now, I am binge-watching As Told By Ginger. I forgot just how much I loved this show! The whole series was apparently available for purchase on iTunes until 2015, but it is no longer available...

Only the first 45 episodes (I believe there are 60 episodes in all) and the 3-part series finale are available on DVD. The creators of As Told By Ginger are total geniuses. You take one look at the name of the series, and it's main characters, and you think "Nickelodeon chick flick". That is far from the case. By giving Carl Foutley and his best friend Hoodsey their own side stories, they invited boys to watch. This is also one of the first cartoon series to feature a gay (or at least crossdressing) character. The first such series was Hey Arnold! with schoolteacher Mr. Simmons...

As Told By Ginger has incredibly realistic storyline, and unlike other cartoons does not have a floating timeline where the year changes but the characters don't age. Ginger and her friends move from 7th grade to 8th grade, and the series concludes with the girls in high school. Carl and Hoodsey, the respective younger brothers of Ginger and Dodie, move from elementary school to junior high. Also, with few exceptions (most notably Carl, Hoodsey, and rich classmate Blake Gripling), the characters actualyl change outfits frequently. If you watch Hey Arnold! or Rugrats, you'll see that the characters do not change clothes!

And then, of course, there are the cars!

Lois Foutley's 1970s Volkswagen Beetle, the Gripling family's Rolls-Royce, a 1950s Cadillac hearse, and a Mack garbage truck, among others...

By the way, if we're talking about Nicktoons, how did Spongebob end up on the emoji menu?!?!

    :duh:

On my families old ranch our house was heated by heating oil. A truck would show up and fill our tank up. I remember it would smell really bad for a few hours.

Oil heat is still better than a heat pump in terms of heating performance!

Not me lol. It was upgraded to heating oil in the 50’s. Up till 1999 that ranch was in our family for well over 100 years

My Grandma got it for me for Christmas years ago (2009?) and it’s been gathering dust in my basement since we moved into the new house. Is used to have a normal-sized one with the same color lava, but I traded that for an Xbox 360!
