Why not call the insurance? Most if not all repair chips for free without dinging your premiums since it helps save. Better to repair a rock chip than cover 75%+ of a replacement.

Last replacement I had to fight with them for throwing away the factory molding. Those generic ones they use don't have the rain channel lip. Yeah, that OCD thing again. :goingcrazy:

I didn't even think about insurance....I'll look into it. Never had so much as a chipped windshield in all my years of driving until this one happened awhile back

5 lugger with all that extra weight???!!! The bumper, the contractor bed, etc. Is this taco likely running the 2.4L being 5 lug?

That's not ocd man, you're spot on. I like your style
The oem 'cold weather windshield molding is the only one with those channels to guide the water up over the roof. Good for you for being on top of that as most folks aren't even aware of it, let alone in top of it:cool:

Toyota's didn't come with I beams. Hell of a lot of work. Easier to by a ford ranger. You'd better off to start with a 6 lug prerunner and go LT on that

    I believe the 5-Lug v6 lasted from 1995-2000. In 2001 the v6 went into the S-Runner on the 5-Lug chassis. I had a 1998 5-Lug v6.

tacos didn't come with long travel either, especially on the 5 lugs which the suspension is even more inclined than 6 lug. If I bought a LT kit I'd likely pay someone to install bc I have very little fab experience. Would the 2 grand price point really not be worth it for some more work fabbing? like I said there's JD fab which is the only bolt on I know, but pretty sure minimal work is still needed

So that pic FLBAdrian put up, that taco is 98-00 front end so possibly could have the V6.... Thank goodness. That couldn't be fun to drive with the 2.4L

Don’t discount the 2RZ too much, it’s still a plenty powerful motor.

It’s only 8 HP less than the 3RZ. The 3RZ is a bored out version of the 2RZ.

Right right, I'm definitely familiar with it in the Yota family but I didn't realize it was only 8 hp difference. Right damn close with the 2.7L then. And prolly not even a noticeable difference, everything else being equal.

    2.4l v 2.7l - it’s only a 0.3l difference in displacement. Additionally, 160 ft-lbs versus 177 ft-lbs of torque respectively. 17 ft-lb difference.

I had forgotten about those old scraper style razor blades until I stuck my hand into one that was lurking in the 250 and flayed my finger

i have a fuel leak on my corolla
while getting the wheels aligned they could not do the rear because of this leak
they quoted me to inspect where the leak is at and no way am i putting near as much money into what the beater is probably worth
i assume i can find youtube stuff out there on how to drop the tank and check it out for myself
@cruiserguy what do you know about mid 90s Corolla fuel tanks and leaking fuel

start out with an empty tank for one
too bad i just filled it full the other day lol

The average cost for a Toyota Corolla fuel tank replacement is between $854 and $923. Labor costs are estimated between $199 and $252 while parts are priced between $655 and $671. Estimate does not include taxes and fees.
Note about price: This service is typically done as part of a bigger, more expensive repair, so the estimate you see above may not represent your total cost. Some of these bigger related repairs are listed in the table below. Talk with a RepairPal Certified shop to learn which repairs may be right for you.
