What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

1100 for 5100s all the way around assembled on OME 880 coils, bushings, 1” block and alignment. At Toytec, which is a high end 4x4 shop. I’m sure I could have saved $50-100 somewhere else. But I didn’t want to this time.

the coil assemblies
control arms
tie rods
cv axle stuff
pretty much the whole works i think we were talking about at the counter

 

Ok. That’s about right.

 

But man, 3k is better than buying a new truck.a good way to look at it is as long as the maintenance is less than 50% of the truck price , then you’re good provided you keep it.

 

but i don't 'feel' that i need all that yet but i don't really know

a new truck is nearly $50k OTD
and then the mods that need to be done to make it badass will probably be over $60k when its all done!

 

You probably don’t. Even on a most abused truck, mine didn’t need that.

non of that is hard. Theres tons of how to's on here. Buy better parts and do the work yourself.

As long as you buy quality parts and follow a good write up, torque your bolts...you'll be fine. None of the front end suspension stuff is overly complicated, just nuts and bolts really.

TW locals are hard to find here unless i drive 200 to 500 miles where 3rd gens roam freely, but they have their own problems with those newer trucks

it will have to wait until the spring, the weather here is a bit nippy these days
plenty of time to re-watch timmy the toolman videos
