you would think so!
TW locals are hard to find here unless i drive 200 to 500 miles where 3rd gens roam freely, but they have their own problems with those newer trucks

it will have to wait until the spring, the weather here is a bit nippy these days

a 'rough estimate' on a whole package without actually physically having my truck there to look at, a ballpark figure he said.

Ok how hard are inner tie rods and lower control arms? Are we talking physical strength or finesse?

New hoses, so nope.

No water movement of antifreeze seen in radiator.

i swear, I’m thinking these techs don’t know anything.

Can you confirm for me sometime?

When the truck is warmed up thermostat open and you rev the motor with the cap off will you see a lot of antifreeze moving
in the radiator from the cap view?

I’m saying it has to be the water pump because there is zero water movement that I can see at 195 degrees with the 170 stat looking into the radiator cap section with the radiator hose at 195 degrees and the lower radiator hose at 50 degrees.

I’m probably going to tell them tomorrow to just replace the water pump as they don’t know what’s up.

 

Inner tie rods aren't that bad. Just have to separate the outer tie rods from the lower ball joint then unscrew them out of the inners, then take the inners out of the steering rack. To loosen the inners you need a big pipe wrench or adjustable crescent wrench which can be kind of a pain to get them loose with, but otherwise it's all fairly straightforward. Count the turns it takes to get the outers off so you know how many to put the new ones on...so your alignment is somewhat normal when you're done. Will still need to get an alignment after though, especially if you're doing LCAs too.

I haven't done my lower control arms but from what I gather the hardest part is replacing the bushings, but if you're putting new LCAs in with new bushings in them then you don't have to worry about that.

If you don't have a lift to work under then it's a lot of being on your back under the truck which might be an issue with that shattered elbow of yours

 

Radiators new 6 months old

 

Done a little while ago, but here's some stuff I did:

• Exhaust painted with black bed liner
• Black badges
• AXON 55 Warn 5,500 lb winch
• Blinkers darkened

 

The Dee Zee DZ86501 Heavyweight Bed Mat arrived today. It actually fits. It needs to set in the sun to straighten out from being rolled up in sub-freezing weather. This thing is heavy. I like it.

 

I had a difficult to diagnose overheating years ago. It was a Radiator Hose where the inner liner of the hose collapsed and wouldn't allow coolant flow after it heated up. Weird.

 

For inner tie rods this little Service Wrench Set from HF came in handy for the places where you need a slim open end wrench.

 

Yeah but it's overheating when it's idling and those hoses definitely are not collapsed when I'm looking at it and I can't I don't see any antifreeze movement in the cap area and the top radiator hose is at 190 lower radiator hose is at 50 degrees

 

Yea I get it but it didn't appear my hoses were collapsed either. Just the inside was like a hose within a hose and it swelled up . Just an idea.

 

Pretty sure I have the same one. Just be warned it stains really easily.

 

What kind of stains? Oil?

 

I left a piece of steel back there that was a little damp overnight once. Now theres a big orange rust stain on it. Also the previous owner spilled some chemical and that left a good sized puddle. Just be leery and wipe up stuff that gets on it asap.
