Hi all, got a question I may be able to get answered in here-- just a noob trying to learn more for future plans

why when going long travel are there really no tacos with I beams? When I look up 5 lug front kits and they are all in the vicinity of 5 g's for the kit without shocks and most you still have to fab. ( Jd fab I think is the only bolt on kit, but 5k for it) I peek on Giant motorsports page, and the front kit for I beams is 2850 with everything needed besides shocks. Obviously a good amount of fabbing involved with it, but with 5 lugs youre likely to do that anyways as I said before. If I have this truck long enough to get to LT point (likely will lol), what would hold me back from I-beams versus other kits?

Cost of the truck vs. other options that are already I-beamed (ranger)?

@vptracing on Instagram has a pretty sweet ttb Tacoma. But really the fab cost would be the only thing holding you back. Being a 5lug your options are already pretty limited like you said.

Just peeped it and yes that thing is a work of art wow. SO, then in the case of the JD fab kit which is 5 grand but mainly bolt on versus the giant motorsports kit that is 2850 but will require fabbing; it would be better to get the I beams if the fab cost wont outweigh the price of the other kit? (cheaper) American motorsports kit is about the same price as JD fab but still requires a lot of fabbing to do, which would still cost me on top of the kit. In that case as well it'd be better for the I beams? Most people will say get a ranger if I want I beams, but if only one kit wont require me redoing the entire front suspension regardless I'd say it boils down to fab cost like you said.

The JD Motorsports kits seem to be about $3-4k (+shocks and fab work).
Unless you’re wanting to get huge travel numbers, would the basic JD kit that has pre made shock towers be ok? $3k + shocks ?
I’ve never ridden in a beamed truck, but have heard from many people that they feel less stable or loose in rough stuff vs an A-arm truck.

dumb question -- how easy is it to rotate the hose fittings on king shocks? I'm getting my rears installed and the reservoir hose is inconvenient for mounting. It is easy to rotate/loosen at the shock head?

Not really LT, but kind of, I suppose.

New style with the o-ring is just loosening the nut and rotating them - releasing the pressure first would probably be a good idea.

Have any pics? What type of fitting and how much do you need to rotate?

    This.

I assume they're the new style -- <1 year old. Releasing the pressure by just leaving them full extension, or what?

Thanks for the quick response to a noob question.

Let the nitrogen out and then back off the nut enough to let the hose rotate. NPT fittings aren't put on Kings any more - not for awhile so you should be set.

Cool, I'll try that. It would just be super convenient to spin those around. How much of a hassle is recharging it?

    A thing or two...
If you have a nitrogen tank and a setup to recharge the shock (basically a regulator and no-loss schrader valve connection), it's super easy. If you don't, you'll need to take it somewhere to have them do it.

    Whole lotta stuff
The shop that did my rebuilds, just had me spot them a 20 o’ bill, and they said they’d fill them to whatever I wanted. I don’t most places hassle much for nitro.

I see. You have a relocation. Yes, as stated, release the nitrogen pressure and loosen the fitting enough to allow the resi to rotate. Just try to not loosen it too much as you may loose fluid.

Awesome. I'll see if the shop can recharge it for me then. Thanks!
