What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

Thanks for the warning. I'll probably mop it with some 303 Protectant as soon as the weather warms up.

 

I take mine out and blast it with the pressure washer maybe once a year. Does a good job, didnt think of using 303 on it. Maybe next time.

Not entirely sure how I feel about this mod, considering exactly zero of the ring terminals fit and I had to drill them out.
Also the boot didn't work at all so I had to hack it up too. Lots of hacking going on here.

 

Yeah they always use 3/8 bolts on those. I crimped on fressh 3/8 terminals to everything. Hydraulic crimper makes that a breeze

 

Looks like it's the ARB.

 

Out of curiosity, what dealer are you taking it to?

 

Sounds like the side gears are out of alignment with the "pinion gears". Is the cross pin still in place, set screw tight, all that?

 

They still are not sure today
Autonation, usually they are excellent,

I told them this evening to do a
1)radiator flow test
2)Check both radiator hoses for collapse issues
3)remove the thermostat to eliminate that item from the equation putting in a gasket only.
4)if these items are all working correctly them replace the water pump with a new one.
All these items are less than a year old so there has to be a defective part.
Thats the plan for tomorrow

 

I believe he’s saying the hose separated and inner line collapsed. So from the outside it appeared to be fine.

 

I had that happen to a brake hose once, stayed half pumped cause it collapsed under auction when the brake pedal was released. Acted like a check valve

 

Pins and set screws seem fine. Side great has play between it and the thrust washer. I can feel a bit of interference between the side gear and the pinion when I turn with my fingers. But I'm not sure what sort of tolerance they're supposed to have

 

Damnit that reminds me, I need to change my brake fluid. It’s original with too many miles. Gotta stop being lazy and only working on the fun stuff.
