I picked up a 2011 manual access cab the other day. It was exactly what i had looking for for many years and charcoal grey with only 60k miles and crazy clean so i didn’t get it checked out for once and just pulled the trigger.
On the way home i flipped in into 4 high and i had a blinking 4 low light. Yea i know I totally spaced and didnt do this before buying.
I moved the 4 wheel drive switch around and couldn’t get it to stop blinking. Couldn’t quite tell if it was in 4 wheel drive, definitely not 4 low, so got out and couldn’t turn the front drive shaft by hand. Backed up and went forward for awhile and finally just turned the truck off and back on and light was off. Switch was back in 4 high and i could turn shaft by hand.
Crazy long day so drove home and tried it again in the driveway and it seemed fine.
Computer malfunction? Bad actuator or fuse or something or anyone ever experience this or something similar ?

sounds more like the drive train was bound and the gears wouldnt mesh. if its blinking its not engaged. needs to be in neutral with no load on the drivetrain. they're temperamental.

Whats the possibility that you accidentally switched to 4low? If you passed 4high even just a little the light will blink at you like that. You can shift into 4high up to 50ish mph but you have to be stopped with the clutch fully engaged to get it into 4low.

Its all be covered in the manual or the card in the sun visor.

Yea possibly. I did ask the owner about it and he said he never really used it and i believe him. Doesn’t look like it got used a lot possible garaged by previous owner before him so maybe just shaking out the cob webs

Pretty damn sure I didn’t but it’s possible. I haven’t sold my previous truck yet. Its a 14’ auto tacoma so used to using four wheel drive occasionally at least 4 high but not on a manual trans. I just shifted to 4 high on a dirt road in neutral going maybe 10 mph. Maybe i did go a hair past but didn’t seem like it
