Guys and gals, I could really use some help. 2018 Tacoma.
I have a rattle in the front drivers side door IN THE LATCH area. It does not go away when I take the door panel off. Any idea how i crooks fix that? I can barely reach it.
I also have the jbl package and the sub rattles like craaaazy. Any advice? I’m going crazy.

I’ve taken my truck to the dealership 3 times now and every time they say they can’t replicate so I’m going to have to fix this myself.
I have a audio file that plus 60 hz so it’s easy to track down.

It doesn't sound like it's reproducible if you can't determine the source. Reproducible rattles are easy to find. Take a tiny microphone, hook it to an amplifier, put on some headphones, poke around with the microphone.

Louder rattle means the microphone is closer to the source.

But it sounds like it's not actually reproducible. Try the mic trick while you bump the door frame with the heel of your hand.

Else: Try to talk a deer into running at that door as fast as it can.

Also have the JBL system and found the rattles annoying as hell. So, I applied sound deadener to almost all exposed sheet metal behind each door and behind the sub enclosure. But - still had a rattle in the doors.

The little plastic piece of the door that covers the screw behind the latch rattled like crazy. I popped that off and stuck some cloth tape (like tessa tape) to the back of the plastic piece and to the door panel. NO MORE RATTLES

I had to do the same thing right after I bought the truck. Also used felt tape on the switch panels.

One of my buzzes seems to be coming from the window switches on the driver side door. If I put my hand on it, it stopped immediately. I just don't feel like popping off the door panel off to get behind it and make it stop. :(

The panel for the window switches will pop up and out without taking the whole door off. You can pop it up with some panel pullers or similar. Just work it slowly a little from each side. There are some wiring harness connected to it but there's enough space to get in there and put fabric tape along all the points that touch. IE: along the four sides where the window switches panel sits.

Honestly, it takes $10 and 10 minutes of effort to pop these two pieces out and tape up the areas that are prone to rattle/vibrate. If $10 and 10minutes sounds like too much, might have to just deal with the rattle.

Also notice the black noico sound deadener there in the last pic. That's well worth the effort too. makes stock speakers/amp sound a heck of a lot better and quieter road noise.

Awesome! Last vehicle I had to do this on I had to pull the whole panel so to do all the doors (more than just one door was buzzing unlike the Tacoma) it took a whole afternoon. Now that I know you can just pop that part off to access it I will have to do this. Thanks!

I can’t hear any rattles as there is so much other shit bouncing around in my truck it masks any issues. Put a dog a kid and a bunch of tools in there and all the rattles magically go away

Traced my "ticking" rattles to the rear window switches. Applied some felt tape and all is good!

Guys, it's gotten worse. I need to crowd source some help.
They have applied felt in all the places. The rattle is still there. It is coming from the latch area, with the door panel completely removed.

I've taken it in six times now, and they finally said this time it happens on EVERY 3rd gen Tacoma, so they will not fix it.

    Can someone please verify this?
Try with a 60 hz, 70, 120, and a 140 hz tone and do you get the same sound as in the video linked in the original message?

There were a couple "Beware of Timber Rattlesnake" signs up at the Mountain Bike Trails I ride but thankfully I never came across any.
