    Torque converter is still spinning through the oil. It heats the oil up

    turn the key and throw it into drive takes me maybe 15 seconds and im on the road. never had an issue. Im sure when 170k-200k ill get cold torque converter acting funny like my other vehicles in that mileage range

    Try parking your truck with the parking brake off in the same conditions. I'll bet you have no issues.

    Today you can do pretty much anything with electronics and computers, but what blows my mind is that automatic transmissions were purely mechanical devices for DECADES.

    It never seizes to amaze me how creative service writers can be to blow off a customer! :rofl::rofl::rofl:

    The engine warms up from the violent explosions of the petrol igniting inside the combustion chamber, initiating motion, which causes friction of the internal engine components that generate heat.

    Outside the torque convertor that gets motion from the engine, the transmission is like the rear diff gears, they warm up by friction when the vehicle is in motion.
    The same goes for a manual transmission, the clutch plate assembly is turning, but not really generating any heat until friction is applied via motion.

    For this reason, and that of many other vehicle components, you want to drive at moderate speeds (35-55mph) for the first few miles in cold frigid weather (<32*F ) .

    So is the rear differential, but then again, someone has to do the heavy lifting

    BINGO! We have a winner!

    45*F is cold, 32*F is frigid (freezing) cold, 26*F if frigging colder

    Yes, but moreover it’s the friction generated inside the torque converter by the fluid flow, as one half’s blades spin with the motor and the other half is hooked to the transmission - so it will still generate some heat idling

    are you sure that your fluid is level? ATF expands a fair amount when it heats up, and i’ve seen low fluid cause similar issues when cold.

    there was also a tsb on older f150s for slow engagement like that - bad tranny pump

    It's due to moisture forming in the rear drum while driving, when it's really cold outside, that freezes when you park. You can rock it back and forth to loosen it up or just grab the e-brake line and wiggle it. It's happened to me a few days when it was really cold.
