You get what you pay for right? Here's some reasons Hh are worth the cost:
    1. Hammer Hangers gain droop travel, up to 2"+ over stock hangers and competition. Otherwise don't waste your money on shock relocation!
    2. Hh are made from high strength 1/4" HSLA 50,000psi steel which is 30% stronger than A36/structural. It also doesn't gall like mild steel
    3. Hh have a ramped leading edge and rounded rear edge to prevent catching on a rough surface like a rock, unlike stock and competition
    4. The ramped leading edge makes the bottom a very strong channel to resist bending and give better ride quality. People rave about Hh ride quality
    5. Hh are given 2-stage powder coat: blasted, zinc rich epoxy primed, and top powder coated by professionals for superior corrosion resistance
    6. Hh have the option for a cross tube option for even more durability, and ride quality improvement.
    7. Hh don't look like stacked Chinese take-out containers
    8. Hh don't have any permanent threads to mess up and cause a lot of work to repair
    9. Hh come with high end fasteners and metal lock nuts. The competition comes with split lock washers....SPLIT LOCK WASHERS!?!
    10. Properly aligns parallel to leaf spring

Hey @ARCHIVE! So I just stumbled across your Hammer Hangers and had a quick question. I see they would be compatible with my Dakars, but my bed is always loaded. I've seen a lot of reviews for guys saying it rides much better without a load. I have a GFC Camper, some camping gear, water and other stuff always in it. Will the new hangers improve the rear ride quality or is it not necessary because mine is always loaded? Sorry for the newb questions. I'm still learning.

Hey, actually a bunch of the reviews are with weight and Dakars.
Please note, Dakars have a design flaw in that the lower leaves extend inside the shackle which results in bad noises and the leaves jamming into the shackle ribs and causing potentially dangerous condition. The Dakars require trimming the lower leaves to eliminate the issue.

Thanks for bringing this up. Just checked my Dakar and shackle combo and the shackles are showing signs of the springs hitting on the inside. Guess I have another project this weekend to install new shackles and trim my springs... yayy

Aren't aftermarket parts great? My stuff has issues from time to time but I admit when I need to improve something and make the change

Hey Eric, quick question.. which leaves have to be trimmed and how much...? I’d rather get some knowledge on the subject and be ahead of the game while I am installing the hangers. Thanks!!

It does depend on the version you have. The amount that needs trimmed is 1.5-2", just enough to clear the shackle, and chamfering or rounding the corners helps as well.
For El095, it might just be the 2nd leaf. For El096, I think it is the 2nd/3rd leaf. If you have AAL, that needs trimmed also.

Possible modification method: If you droop suspension out with axle horizontal, with frame safely supported on jackstands, you could pry 2nd leaf down, insert a strip of wood to keep leaves spread apart, so you don't hit the main leaf while cutting, and possibly take care of it without any disassembly.

You could buy these 2" wide adhesive backed UHMW strips to use as slider pads, as leaf steel doesn't drill very easy to reuse the Dakar inserts. I have used these strips with success, and the OEM overload leaf uses a similar idea. https://www.mcmaster.com/7701t212

Disclaimer: These ideas are only given as possible solutions to fix a known issue with ARB OME Dakar leaf springs. The vehicle owner must take responsibility for their own work and actions. Owner also takes responsibility for voiding any ARB/OME warranty of their springs.

Here is part number to order a pair of bare replacement shackles from Toyota: Order one of 04005-65104 shackle kit

Here's a good pic of what needs to be cut. I'll be doing this on Saturday to mine and installing new shackles along with Archive's bushings that I didn't install when I did the hangers.

Great, thank you for the info. I have the medium dakars EL095, so looks to be the second leaf from the top of the pack. Also. I put new bushings in the leafs when I did the install earlier this year, there should be no need to purchase new shackles correct..?

Keep in mind the above mod was done to work with those aftermarket shackles, which has LESS clearance than stock or Archive shackles

But the point is Dakars don't work properly with anything including stock shackles and stock hangers

Gotcha! I was going to take some measurements before I started cutting too much. I'll post some pics this weekend before I go crazy

Hey, the answer depends on if you have long shocks or shock relocation, as stock rubber bushings hold droop back. If not, stock shackles are fine, they are not the weakest link, the stock hangers are.

The 3.6" come assembled with poly bushings and grease fitting. You can get good performance out of stock shackles if you get the poly bushings.

Spring eye spacers are only for spring mfgs that supply narrower than stock bushings primarily All Pro springs

Does this look about right for max droop with: stock leafs, progress aal, shackle with poly bushing. The shocks were disconnected on both sides. I was thinking the shackle would be a little flatter? I measured about 25” extended, 16.5” collapsed.
