2012 ONLY Hewitt-Tech Secondary Air Injection Bypass kit

I have a 2012. The valves and pump was replaced by Toyota under warranty. They are still covered until 2022 under the extended warranty issued on them by Toyota. I was wondering if they might fail again past that. What exactly does the bypass kit do? And what else would one need to use the kit?

 

They will fail again. It's not an IF, it's a WHEN situation really. I have heard of the valves failing a few tens of thousands of miles after warranty replacement. It's just a bad design and a bad operational strategy by the PCM to operate the air pump system almost specifically on the 12s, but the 13-15s have issues as well. Near identical actually but these kits are designed for 2012s only.

The bypass kit essentially deletes the entire kit without having to do any removal work of the system and prevents the check engine light from turning on by fooling the PCM.

Nothing else is needed to run the kit other than the air pump check valve lines block off plates which you can get from @Roostfactor for pretty cheap. Install it, then forget it. You will never have to worry about stuck valves or triggering limp home mode ever again.

I'm surprised this hasn't sold. Toyota's extended warranty replaces a bad designed pump with the same bad designed pump. This kit eliminates it entirely...

I am surprised as well honestly and I'm really starting to think it's a lost cause trying to sell it. Then again I don't think a lot of people even know this item exists. So... Thanks for the free bump!

Just got new pump valves and hoses all placed through toyota free of charge for my 2012. Would ahve been qround $1600 - ouch. You still got this? I never want to think about this ever again.

 

I may be mistaken, but i believe i have this kit on my truck now

Has anyone ever actually had one of the newer systems replaced by toyota and it fail. theyve supposedly addressed the issue with the replacement system.
