Was looking at a pic of a TG crossmember on low range and they look different, at least different lengths. I can try and find the stock specs tho

gear driven case is stronger than the 1st gen chain cases. Plus you can have 4.7s in the rear case instead of the front which puts less stress on the input shaft of the rear case, making it more reliable. Still not worth 3k. I’d say 2k max

That's what I said, someone didn't read, lol. That's why I mention TG nolonger make the verso case. 3k is ok, considering the crawl box is 2200 already. But I wouldn't pay 3k and am sure he wouldn't take 2200 as well.

Idk. Dropped my phone and it went under the truck. Noticed it looked a little wet when I was getting the phone. Haven’t looked at it since. Truck hasn’t moved since Harlan.

I'm pretty new to the dual case world so i'm learning as I go. and I got excited and clicked too fast :D

Haven't really heard of too many if any failures at all on the factory chain drive tacoma T-cases.

It's not like i'm gonna be running 40's anytime soon, so i'm sure the factory one will hold up just fine for my uses.

Well I had my first fail post crawl box but it had nothing to do with the crawl box and everything with me being stupid with the skinny pedal. I totally knew better.

But I'm stoked about going from stock to 5.29's and a front locker with compound low :transformer::turtleride:

Question for you guys. Have any of you added a TC crossmember to help support the drivetrain in addition to the factory trans mount, or is that a waste of money. Just curious if the dual cases adds more stress elsewhere in the drivetrain and if an addition crossmember is needed. Ive been looking at the marlin dual case, and they recommend an additional crossmember, but no longer make it. Am I over thinking this?

LROR makes a crossmember and so does TG.

I haven’t added any kind of extra support though. There is A LOT of movement of the engine/trans/crawler/Tcase in double low. I’m sure it’ll wear out mounts over time. Not sure what other side effects will pop up.

Yeah thats what marlin said, it puts strain on the engine mounts/ trans mount. Guess I just gotta decide. Was hoping someone would know if it actually reduces movement enough to warrant adding it. I mean it can harm things, but is it really gonna add longevity to the motor mounts

I think short answer is "do it" because why not. Don't think it's really required. But you DEFINITELY want skid protection. Here's mine where I kinda incorporated both the mounts and the skid plate in one. I like it but if I was gonna design something again it'd probably be separate mount & skids.

I only ever drove mine on the street prior to adding the 2nd mount. Don't have much more than anecdotal stuff to say. I didn't clearance my tunnel but even with 2 mounts the tcase would hit the tunnel under certain load conditions while crawling, I think it self-clearanced cause it stopped doing it as much.

I added a FROR support for the tcase extension and the extra weight. It's helped in my case and prevent the case from hitting the cab as compared to without it. It still hit depending on the terrain/obstacle but while in town there's no more cab to tcase noise. Maybe a little more love to the tunnel wouldn't hurt. But I end up modifying the crossmember :D from a 1 piece to a 2 piece.

    Here's what I used.

    https://www.4xinnovations.com/Super-Duty-Transfer-Case-Mount-for-82-95-Pickup-4Runner_p_85.html

No additional crossmember, but I welded a piece of c-channel to the existing trans crossmember, then welded the mount to the c-channel.

Mine is nowhere near as beefy as others I have seen.

Thanks! We'll see how it holds up to ongoing abuse. I may add a gusset on each side. I only have about 1,000 miles on the truck since it all went in...probably only a mile or two in double low so it hasn't been put through the paces the way other's have.
