"Dadda your truck got a boo boo!"

So, this past Saturday was driving up in the mountains with a couple of buddies when we stumbled across a trail. We decided to take it, & it turned out to be a bad idea. A dent, shatterd tail light, & a few scratches later; time to do some work on the taco. My daughter saw the damage on Sunday & said "dadda your truck got a boo boo. So, orderd my tail light on Monday morning & got it today. Waiting on my dent puller now. we'll see how well I can pull it out & make it look semi nice again.

x2 same thing happened to my stepdads truck with less than 4k miles on it a couple years ago.

 

Well at leat I got the first scratch out of the way LOL.

 

I had a dent similar except a little lower by the decal. About the same size though. Took a rubber hammer to it from the inside, literally one whack in the home depot parking lot and it popped out fine. Good luck.

 

After further reading about the trail, after the fact, 2 of our trucks had no business on it. My buddy ended up putting a nasty dent on his 1st gen's rear door. I'm not going to say which trail, but it was still fun. What should've taken 3 hours turned into 6 with all the rain, mud & narrow trail. Luckily the forest did not receive any damage, just our trucks.

 

I figured I'd try the dent puller (pic attached) that I ordered 1st. It was only $20. I really don't want to have to remove anything from the body just yet. That'll be plan B if the puller doesn't work.

 

Ouch!!! I hope you get it all worked out. At least you not a wuss and took your truck on that trail!

 

What type of dent puller are you getting?
That dent has a couple good buckles, so don't be suprised if it doesn't just pop.
It looks like he point of impact was down on the flare, I would remove the flare and make sure you are pulling the deepest part of the dent first.

Don't hit it with a hammer from the other side, some times you may get lucky, more time than not you will cause more damage.

However, the solution is clear:
1)hire lawyer
2)blame the floor mats and/or gas pedal
3)Toyota caves and buys you a new truck
4)...and a college education for that little girl.

 

that sucks, but how did it happen, tree, rock. I know, a WWE Moment and you head butted your truck!

 

^^^LOL!!! Old school WWF tag team Bushwackers days! I took mine on the trail with 5k on it and got a couple nice dents in the skid plates. It was a good story for me and also the Toyota Trail Team guys to tell at their next trail stop.

 

take the tail light out and try to pry it out with a broom handle with a rag wraped around the end of it, no puller needed. good luck with it.

 

It was a tree. tried to go between 2 trees & a stump to be exact. I had it most of the way & then due to the rain, mud, & needing a spotter...went up on a root/stump (too high) & slid it into it as I stepped on the gas a bit too hard. As my wife likes to mention to me now, being a dumbass. lol.

 

Bummer! It might pull out ok though.

 

Sucks,but it does look like it will pop out w/ little damage.

 

This.. It should pop out nicely, the only issue i see is where the crease is, the broom handle will work well in that situation. use your puller first, then use the above tactic.

Do not do this, good chance of cracking the paint or putting marks that can,t be removed.

If you cant move it with that suction cup, which I highly doubt especially if you don't pull the flare off first to expose the point of impact . I would consider contacting a local Paint less Dent Repair tech in your area. At least get an estimate and evaluation.

If you don't want the best outcome then push on it from the back and take a chance of doing more damage, if you want it to look as good as possible, get some input from some one who knows what they are talking about.
