The total bill amount is the same, but the uninsured discount was $200 more than what my insurance discount is. That maxed my deductible out for the year, but I’m confident I’m not going to be having any unforeseen accidents again in the next month and a half and could definitely use that $200

Oh man. I would have waited until he unloaded everything and then just looked at him, then walked away and said "oh I WAS using that".

    Insurance is 100% bullshit.
I’m one of those stubborn asses that never goes to the dr for anything unless I’ve got a broken bone or I’m dying. But, i still pay to have insurance in case I am actually dying. So dumb.

I’m pro insurance and also pro HSA. But I had surgery this year and would’ve gone broke without them both, so probably a bit bias. Maybe the core issue is medical expenses are too high, but without insurance I’d still be hobbling around and would never see a squat rack again...except for curls

    This is true.

I really don’t like to complain because my situation is nothing compared to the struggles of many others but I still get a little POed I’m maxing out this years $7k HSA contribution to pay for a surgery... when I have fucking insurance.

Its life you get over it and move on but still it sucks.

I’m very fortunate I have the option to afford it and not have to make the decision between feeding my family or fixing my knee. But what about those who do have to make that choice?

I love contributing to HSA. It’s pre tax and when I pay for things with my HSA card I feel like I’m getting it for free because it’s not coming out of my bank account.

I too usually feel this way until I get my pay check every other Wednesday for $42.17.
    It feels less free LOL.

I do love payroll deductions though. I wish I could set my paychecks up to divvy up amounts to multiple accounts like spending/grocery, vacation, mortgage, etc.

My secret is marrying a sugar daddy that can pay all the bills while everything I make goes to the HSA LOL.
Of course I am maxing out $6,000 out of the $7,000 the last few checks of the year.

I swear people will be marrying for insurance if they aren't already..hmm I do work in the field, maybe my fat ass is more marketable.

Same kinda thing here, I got my wife on all my insurance before we were married. Hers isn't bad but why pay more? My company gives me more $$ to spend to carry 2 versus 1 on the plan.

Her HSA is up in July and mine in January, so if mine (which is huge) looks like it's gonna be close she can always dump a few hundo in hers mid year. My FSA on the other hand rolls over each year and I get a decent enough kick in from the company even if I put in nothing..that said, I put in quite a bit b/c of age and stuff.

$42.17 is my paycheck not my premium.

My premium is $100.01 per pay period for family. And my employer puts $2,400/yr into my HSA. So as long as I put $625 in my HSA each year my health insurance is basically free.
    Is that wonderful?
Depends. I make shit for income so its a trade off LOL

My employer also only subsidizes HDHPs. A family PPO is $1,100 per pay period.

I started working out at home years ago so I purposely bought a rack with adjustable safety spotter bars. Other than that, strict form and know when that "last" rep is. :D There's been a few times when I tried an extra rep or pushed a max weight knowing that if all else failed I'd have the spot racks, but it would suck to have to use them and I absolutely hate failing, so it was enough motivation to put everything into getting the weight up!

A day early for Flex Friday but I feel leaner on Thursdays anyway, and saw @tacopaulo post a nood so I accepted the challenge...

We are leaving for Disney/Orlando on Tuesday for 5 days so I’m ready to cheat and reset things before the holidays. I did make the switch back to whole milk last night and feel 100% better than when I was drinking skim. Weird, but if it works...
