So my new truck came with the OEM door edge guards which I really don’t want or like. Anyone remove these before? They’re color matched which concerns me that if I remove them I’ll damage or have bare paint underneath.

If they are plastic no big deal but if they are metal then you need to be careful.

Good point should probably look at them first lol. They are on the window sticker so it’s from the factory, one of those ugly old man overpriced add ons they love to tack on.

they are either crimped on or held in place by silicone type glue...try prying from the backside...plastic interior removal tools would be good for this task.

That’s what I’ve seen from my quick google research, just didn’t get clarification on if the paint underneath is bare or if I’ll do damage or mess up the door seal removing it and at that point might as well leave it.

OEM? they appear to be metal too which worries me about trying to remove them.

Cool. Maybe run a heat gun on them and pull gently.

@TacoBuffet yeah, the door and the door edge guard is painted separately and put on later. Looked at the window sticker and said the door edge guards were $140. I considered going back but I hate going to the dealer.

I’ve never seen the color matches door edge guard. I had the 3m clear style that I took off not long ago

Oh I wouldn’t want it and if I did have it would take it off but it’s better than the clear 3m that yellows over time and collect junk along the edge. I want to remove a couple more pieces that’s in front/back of the rear wheels but it’s under the fender flares and the black lower trim that’s 3m to the quarter. So I’d have to remove those and reattach with new 3m

I’m curious what it looks like thou

I’ve never heard of OEM door edge guards. Do you live along the south eastern seaboard or one of the gulf states?
