This was always the argument with pelini at Nebraska... Always 9 wins. But the losses were were blow outs... Melvin Gordon scores again! :bananadead:...

Same argument people had that lots of places would be elated for 9 wins. But we we never really just a game away from a splash run. They were always terrible losses and very exposing.

Ironically, we've only had one 9 win season since moving on. It sucks switching coaches and staff and the ensuing instability. When moving on from that situation of a moderately successful coach, you better hope for a really good hire and not a Mike Riley... or it's lather, rinse, repeat.

Some flags and center console divider... lots of things on the wanted list.
Mike Riley... Oh man did EVERY fan of football laugh in the state of Oregon when we heard about that hire. Mike Riley, who had only a few winning seasons at Oregon State. Who washed out of the pros after a few seasons. Such a SHITTY hire.

Now, you do have a coach who is trying to turn things around. Hard to turn around a program in 2 years with all the talent he had that left before he became coach. Hopefully he can continue to build and get a QB in there who is more situated to his kind of offensive scheme. Next year could be a really good year for you.

Wouldn't surprise me if Taggert lands there. His argument with them would be FSU didn't give him enough time to build a stellar program after Jimbo left...

The playoff setup is the difference... It puts your conference champions in the playoffs instead of some arbitrary decider determining who gets in. But the way that would work where conferences to put their best teams in would require a realignment of conference setups. The bad part of division play is you would always have a weaker division that might just win the conference title game. I just use a more Illustrated example to show how that might work.

Bottom line is you have to get humans out of the decision-making process when it comes to playoff-caliber teams. Imagine if Pro Sports had the same setup as college football? The Patriots would never stop being Super Bowl champions.

Like I said that was just a rough draft of my idea.

I get it I don’t mind it lol. I’m just baffled that literally every other sport and even every other division of football has a successful playoff setup but college football can’t get their shit together

Amount of teams, inconsistent scheduling, and the NCAA being trash.

Teams get snubbed in NCAAMBB. Go figure teams will get their feelings hurt in a 4-team playoff.

For sure they will but they went from 32 to 64 to 66 now 68 teams for that tourney. And it’s awesome

And that's the greatest part of my idea... yes you'll get "lower caliber conferences" in... but that creates a great underdog story. Like in men's basketball when a 12 seed beats a 5 seed it makes for a great Cinderella Story. And let's be honest... That's the best part of the NCAA basketball tournament isn't it? seeing that Underdog team and get as far as I possibly can. So would it be cool to see a team like Memphis or maybe even App State go into the playoffs and beat a team like Oklahoma or Ohio State?

Who cares about basketball. This thread is for discussion on how to get as many SEC teams in the playoffs as possible.

I'm an SEC fan... comes with rooting for the Gators... but I couldn't stand seeing a team that didnt even PLAY for the conference championship... let alone won it... competing with those that did for a national title.

If the gators through a prayer and 17 different miracles was able to sneak in the playoffs right now... I'd still have the same opinion.

I don’t root for any basketball. My least favorite sport by far. I’ll watch golf before I’ll watch a college basketball game.
