This is good info. I seam sealed mine but i should probably reseal before next spring.

I dont really pop mine in downpours because i hate putting it away wet. So far in light to spotty moderate rain and snow, i havent had any issues.

ymmv ofc. But I think the key factor is that the thicker coating on the thicker tent is difficult to seal since certain seams won't flex as thin fabrics would. this creates gaps regardless of how well it's sewn together.

So is AT switch fabric for minimal costs or what is the process for switching?

They will switch it but its definitely not going to be a minimal cost.

I do not know what the swap would cost, I do remember seeing that to change from an original style lower to the new solid side version was $2500.... If I had to guess I would bet it was more to swap tents? Thats really just a guess no data to back it up.

I’d just email or call Janine at AT. I’ve always got a reply back right away.

Started with a green, ended up with a gray.

The green tents were made because Nemo has a shortage in fabric and AT wanted to make some of us earlier customers happy and camping.

The morning after our fist night we noticed some holes had formed. Over the next 13 nights, and a meet with Mario in Grand Junction, we figured out the glitch. Sadly my tent was toast, and replaced with the gray one under warranty.

Cost, the invoice showed something above $6k for the tent.

I did the DIY route, because by the time warranty was green lighted we were heading back to real life.

Swap took about 3hrs and was easily done with one person. Key was to remove one side of welt track.

Gray is easier to close by far, and less worry about the squishing and cutting like before. Thankfully for those to follow, the sleep platform design was redone to fix my glitch. The tent is cooler due to better escape of heat and lower albedo. Since we camp mostly in the summer, with kiddos that like to play in the tent, it’s nice.

We were rained on a few times this year and I need to seal some seams in the spring. The green had no seal, but didn’t see rain so I can’t speak on that.

I haven’t noticed a difference in closing really, just that my latch angles are a bit off due to the gray tent allowed the top to close fully. I am also using the chain of beads idea taken from this thread.

Hope this helps. Feel free to ask anything.

To assist in the application, you can dilute it with mineral spirits so it's easier to brush on instead of having a giant glob on your brush. Just use some paint mixing cups, if it gets dry, add some more spirits, get a lid so you can save it for later.

Used these brushes. Didn't need to cut it with mineral spirits.

I'd heard depending on the spirits, can sometimes end up tacky, so skipped that. If you do use the spirits route, may wanna do a test run before covering your tent with the stuff, make sure it dries.

Anybody here worked with a dealer on east coast? Looks like I've got a few options. Just curious if anyone has any experiences to share, good or bad.

I'm getting closer and closer to pulling the trigger. :goingcrazy:

buy it somewhere that doesn’t make you pay the 10% Arizona tax :bananadead:

I basically had to goto the east coast or west coast. No one loves the Midwest :(

Could always buy a used one w/ cash.

Though, how much were your install fees and tax together?

lol, me and a couple of guys are trying to sell ours right now too. Just looking for the right buyer. lol But yeah, we have long beds so finding the right customer takes a little more time than the SB models.
