I have a 2002 tacoma I replaced my stock air intake with a cold air intake it's just a cheep one with a heat shield not a actual box and am considering putting a snorkle on it but I would have to put the stock air box back on. Any suggestions or tips?

The stock air box is better than any aftermarket cold air intake. You should go back to stock no matter what. Then if you need the snorkel you can do that too.

Both! Sorry I’ll see myself out I’m unhelpful.

I modified snorkel coupling to work with the CAI! It’s doable but I’m not familiar enough with an 02! Best of luck sir!

Determine the reason for the mod and proceed accordingly.

    Do you need a snorkel?

Did your aftermarket CAI do anything for you?

A snorkel is the only real "cold" air intake aside from the factory one. Snorkel pulls air from as far away from the engine bay as it gets. Even the stock air intake pulls from the wheel well which is still warmer air than what's outside the truck completely

You will need the stock airbox/tubing in order to install a snorkel

I found that after I put on the cold air intake on I got better acceleration and slightly better mpg. The stock air box just seems restrictive

It's not restrictive I guarantee you that, and most "cold air intakes" move the intake inside the engine bay where the air is warmest. Increases your intake air temps which hinders performance. CAIs usually provide a better sound which people often think is equal to better performance but it's just placebo.

That's the one I have, works great. Have had it installed for over a year. But you will need the stock air box and the inner fender tube (stock one) to install it.

If you don't draw blood, you're doing it wrong!
2nd Gen here, but I removed my CAI to install a snorkel.

I would bet a paycheck this is placebo effect (unless you have data to back it up).

    This one? https://www.ebay.com/itm/372467728316

It does not come with the inner fender tubing, it has a small tube that is supposed to connect to the stock inner fender tube.

The previous owner got rid of the stock inner tube on mine and I had to find another one in order to install the snorkel.

If you got the Wotefusi (?) one instead then you might be okay, since that one connects to the air box farther along the fender

    Yeah that's the one.
Yeah that's the one. What tubing did you use for it?

You need this stock part, number 9 on this chart

The piece of tubing that comes with the snorkel is supposed to connect to it, otherwise it doesn't reach the air box.

You'll also need #10 actually if you don't have it....as well as the air box inside the engine bay. You need that whole assembly lol

Hopefully cause you actually need that whole assembly really...I suppose you might be able to customize your own tubing if you had to
