Nope, not a SE toyota thing or dealer add on. Its on the legit Toyota window sticker, right under tech and prem packages. This truck I purchsed in the midwest region but I've bought from NE region when I was in Jersey and SW region when I was in AZ, familar with all the usual port junk. Toyota even has a youtube video on installing them...

That’s jacked up. Door edge guards were put on by dealers for years and they never stayed on for long. Now TMS is trying? Bummer. I know they want to run up the check because Tacoma’s sell, but at least add stuff that is useable. Not just whatever crap will stick. Well, kinda sorta stick.

Right, ya as Mike pointed out its a $140 option/accessory...his fell off and mine I easily pulled off in 33 degrees with my bare hands.

I wanted to snag one of the last 19's with the 1.9% as the price of a similarly equipped 20 is (tech and prem) is almost $2k more. Sales guy was pushing a $45k 2020 OR. These trucks are getting ridiculous in price for what you get.

replace it with 3M 84905 Scotchgard Paint Protection Film, $40 Amazon

they're easy to install and remove with heat gun. lasts up to 2-3 years if applied correctly. roll is big enough to cover a fleet of trucks!

Those accessories get added at each region’s distribution center. Sometimes dealers get together(within their respective region) and with their Toyota Region decide on color mix in each model. Regions will also put together the different packages on each model for the dealers under their control. Different regions will have different packages. The SouthEast Region and Gulf States are still privately held and often do crazy stuff.

Dealers can also add accessories to their vehicles still sitting at the terminal when they submit their inventory request.
So stuff part of a package is something Toyota Corp did. Singular add-ons the dealer did. Only certain colors available with certain features was a joint effort(like silver on the Tacoma only being available with a upgrade package in the Los Angeles Region).
Look, the stripped version of any Toyota vehicle doesn’t have much profit. It only gets decent with the additional add-ons. My argument is add stuff that brings value, not junk that falls off or stuff that gets yanked off and floods Craigslist. Edge guards is a new low.
