Switch Pros 9100 install and BS thread

Ive had mine installed for THREE months. It quit on me tonight. none of my lights work. There is no tech support. A worthless manual. And no one answers the phone. I think I am going to recommend it as a DONT BUY.

I did some rudimentary diagnostics. There is power. The fuse is fine. I grounded the input to pull any residual charge out of the unit, no difference Its unresponsive. When I remove the large plug and reinsert it, the three status LEDs illuminate RED, flash twice and go out. And the unit remains unresponsive. I pulled all the output feeds so there was no output loads on any of them. cycled the power no joy. Its dead.

Have I wasted my money? So far I am worse off than if I had just hard wired everything

 

i has no issues getting support when I had issues with mine.

assuming you have the 9100, push the 4 pin connection down and see if it works. If that connector loses connection (to the switch panel), the whole thing dies and doesn’t do anything.

 

Likewise on the support. Every time I called they were more than happy to walk me through everything! Try calling them again.

I had some issues with mine on initial install and the 4-pin connection is the key (at least on mine)...wiggled the puppy and then it worked just fine. I elected to NOT use the BT app on the phone so I am just running it from the panel only. Try doing that first and then attempt with the app...so far VERY happy and some day I will try the APP again but for now I couldn't be happier.

 

Nothing compared to what some of you guys have built.. but just finished mine up a few days ago.. just thought I’d share.

 

I was gonna do something similar but the stupid clutch reservoir is in the way so I just used the SDHQ mount and hard wired everything

 

Yea I originally was going to hard wire it all but just wanted to clean it up a bit more to make easier for adding more... I know Switchpro does not recommend bussbars...

Stupid question: how are you doing the wire labels?

 

The only stupid question is the question not asked.. I used a standard labeler that will let you use heat shrink that is made for labeling.

When it says connect the two wires together does it mean intertwine the copper or just stick them side by side into the connector and crimp?

 

I have them stacked on a busbar.

 

as far as sticking them into the fish eye connector, are the two wires copper intertwined or just side by side? Does that make any sense?

 

either one just as long as they both end up in there solid. I gave mine a slight twist to fit them in the connector

Got my PowerTray painted up and starting wiring pigtails to plug and play when accessories when they get here!

I think that is gonna be my next project.

 

I'd recommend Deutsch or Delphi Weather Pack connectors. These are MUYI connectors. They're modeled after—and compatible with—the Delphi connectors but the terminals themselves are a thinner gauge aluminum. If you use the MUYI, you'll still need the proprietary crimping tool for those terminals.

I heard that SDHQ wont warranty a module that is mounted other than vertical.

 

I bought manufacturer direct. I also have a plan in work for the vertical mounting. More to follow.

 

Got everything in the engine bay wired up. Still trying to come up with a novel solution for the Switch Pros, but in the meantime, added some liquid tape to the harness to prevent water intrusion.
