I'm surprised it took FB so long to get in the online dating game. Half the people on it use it for that already

I haven't been out that way in over a year, but I don't think any of the recent fires effected the Big Sur/coastal area this year.

There are very few 'free' or dispersed camping spots along the PCH through Big Sur...I know there are a couple but I don't remember their names. But I do recall they were extremely limited (only a handful of camping spots) and have a tendency to always be taken because they're first come first served. However there are many paid campgrounds in the area.
Big Sur is absolutely stunning and a must see for anyone but it's not really a remote wheeling/camping kind of trip. Although there might be some parts of it that are that I'm not keen on...I've only been through it a couple times

There's the Old Coast Rd that I ran last time we went through Big Sur big it was pretty underwhelming...finished it in like 30 minutes lol. Don't think you can camp along it, lot of private land

Correct, no camping of any sort on Old Coast. It's just a short scenic drive with a little history.

Go south an extra hour and a half to two and you'll reach a road that leads up to some off road trails and BLM. Any further than that and you'll be at the north end of Los Padres with plenty of dispersed camping spots.

I wish I had known about the BLM land camping at the south end when we spent several days out there last year...we just ended up camping in organized campgrounds which wasn't quite the experience I had hoped for

i would protest then, did they at least grant non-citizens of CA some kind of a coupin voucher like the Europeans do with the US Military personnel that lets us avoid paying European fuel taxes

i would think those high fuel prices would hurt out-of-state CA tourism very much
