Sounds like a shitty chiro then. I absolutely love my chiro. He’s also a sports therapist and has worked for I think an NFL team, USA players, colleges, soccer, etc. He has NEVER once told me to “come back next week for another adjustment” He finds what’s causing your pain, tells you what it is, heat/stems, massages out some knots in the area, adjusts, and then gives you exercises to do to strengthen whatever it is that was weak and caused the pain. I think a lot of chiros are shit and just what you described though. But if you find a really good one, you may change your mind.

Get creative. Target marks items that are eligible for HSA/FSA on their receipts with a little cross sign. I’ve bought wraps and braces that way. I try to use it whenever I can, like I said it’s “free” if it ain’t coming from my primary bank account...

My company doesn’t put enough in to the account for that to be worth it. I would use it for new contacts or glasses though. I just spent $200 on a new pair of glasses and now need new contacts because my eyes got worse

LOL tell your wife to get certified then get a happy end with each massage.

I’m all for non-surgical hollistic naturopathic treatment options but not when they aren’t effective or scientifically validated.

I prefer my physicians to have an education to know when something is surgical and when its not. They aren’t surgeons soo...

Thanks for reminding me I need to get a physicians note to buy my new brace and cryocuff (my insurance requires a note) and not just buy with post tax funds.

Correct , chiropractic care will get things realigned but if the under lying issues which cause the alignment issue aren’t addressed you’ll still have issues. Unfortunately your chiropractor is a dumbass and is the type they pops you and sends you out the door.

Great idea plus your company might kick in more. My HMO plan was a $400 per person HSA that I couldn't roll over, or $2600 per for the PPO plus whatever I kick in ($2600 myself). If they kick in more for that or changing the plan, do it.

Sorry that it didn't work. It does depend on a lot of things, obviously the doctor can be good or bad. I never believed in it until I saw what the one my wife sees did for her. 2 degenerating discs in her lower back. She went from being bedridden a week 1/2 times a year to never.

In her case, the only real possible fix is surgery which she doesn't want to risk.

I just looked at the pdf the other day and I’m 99% sure they contribute the same amount to both HRA and HSA. Not sure what my contribution limit is as I didn’t read in to it. Will be doing that tomorrow though.

.25 warmup walk, 1.0 surges, and then I hit the weight circuit finished up by 2x10 abdominal crunch set at 20 lbs.
On the circuit I’ve increased all my weights to over 75 lbs except for bicep curls and tricep extensions.
Sunday I bumped my fast part of surges to 6.0 and it felt better than the 5.5 that I had been running and today I bumped it to 6.5 and it felt very natural and fluid so that will be my goal pace (9:13/mile).

So, today I upped my daily calories from 2800 to 3000. Since basically all this week I was over eating and I maintained my weight. I’ve been hongray!

I have been slowly upping mine as well.

I had NAFLD and too high of a body fat % so I thought keto + exercise(started with p90x lol) would be a good way to sort of recomp myself. I am 6'4 and went from 205 to 187 and gained what I think is a good bit of muscle as well. I also had clean liver enzyme numbers at the end of the 3 months. I was eating around 2700 calories during that time with an average daily burn of 3500. You just don't get that hungry on keto so I never felt like I was starving.

Now I am trying to add back all of that lost weight in muscle instead of fat. I upped my calories to 3500 and loosened my diet to include healthy carbs about a month ago. I am still eating very clean though. No sugar either. I am probably going to see how much muscle I can put on eating at this level and then go from there. I don't really care if it takes a long time to get back up around 205. I just want to stay healthy at this point.

Good job. But now you have found out the issue with keto. It will cause a good amount of muscle loss. Nature of the beast when you cut out almost entirely something the body needs

Eh I definitely gained some muscle, just not as much as I could have if I was actually trying to do that. Keto worked super well for the recomposition I was trying to do.

Having said that, a big reason I gained muscle is probably because I have never really worked out until now. I think the newbie gains can overcome a lot lol. I definitely plan to continue to eat carbs moving forward.

    what he said^

I just started that program, using the free app to track my lifts and progress. The website for stronglifts5x5 has a TON (literally it almost feels like too much information, but its 99% useful) of information on how to perform the lifts safely and with proper form and you will start with low weight so really really focus on form with the low weight so when you add weight you will not hurt yourself with bad form habits. I also started with low weight, empty bar LOW, judge me if you want idc, but I needed a baseline and have already increased in weight by about 44% in 3 weeks. Also I needed to make sure I was setting myself up to do this for the long run and bad form would have stopped my progress in its tracks even with low weight.

background on my lifting history, my dad lifted competitively in highschool and college and my sister and I played sports in middle school and highschool and he had our skinny asses in the gym on a weight lifting plan to get stronger and build mass for the sports we played. He instilled the proper form techniques (grips, feet placement, hips, speed, breathing, etc.) years ago for me. So recently when I picked this up, after years of not touching an olympic barbell, I did a refresher for myself and have been focused on my form and consistency and I have not had any adverse effects. That said YMMV based on what your baseline and history is with lifting.

Yeah I’m wanting to go mega slow and try to add mass without adding any body fat. I’m cool taking a year to get to my goals.
The cut and bulk shit wastes too much fucking time and energy to me and all you get is fat.

Trying to follow more of my hunger signals and very slowly adjust.

    ????
    Wut?

Recent research is actually showing ketogenic diets in regards to maintaining lean mass with caloric restriction and building lean mass while curbing fat gain to be slightly better than any other diet.
The difference is minimal at this point so I’m not sure its fair to say keto is substantially better but it certainly is not being shown to be worse in terms of body composition.

The body does not need carbs. Carbohydrates are an unessential macronutrient. Your body has the physical capability to make carbohydrates. Unlike all essential fats and amino acids.
And keto is not zero carb, thats carnivore. So it is not elimination.

I found the bigger scam than insurance... internet providers. Fucking cock suckers have raised my bill twice this year. And there’s not a damn thing I can do because the only other provider charges just as much. Google fiber needs to hurry up and be everywhere. Fuck spectrum/time Warner
