Let me know if you're ever wanting to go full bumper and get rid of that, I'd be interested.

I appreciate it! Just installed this on Wednesday though so this will be my setup for awhile. I don't wheel hard enough to need a full bumper yet.

I'd love to have a bumper, but here lately, it would make sense for me to get a full skid plate set first though.

Do you know if the 3rd gen one will fit a 2nd? I have the SOS Streamline for 3rd gen and have been strongly considering going full bumper. I actually want the 3rd gen ARB bumper - since I DD mine, there is a lot of appeal to having a crumple zone up front instead of straight heavy duty plate.

To me, skids and sliders should be the first armor anyone adds/upgrades if they have any intent on 'offroading' their rig. Understandably those items don't give the aesthetic change that bumpers add. Guess I'm just more of a function over form kinda guy.

Yep! Skids and sliders are first. I actually offroad both of my trucks. Real gentle with the 3rd gen and maybe a little harder with the 2nd gen.

Almost certain 2nd gen and 3rd gen won't be interchangeable :(

I don't wheel mine. The skids and sliders I have are purely there as insurance. I don't intend to put them to use any time soon, but where I take my rig for camping, biking, hiking, etc, the opportunity to need them could easily present itself.

Not at all saying I wouldn't be opposed to a front/rear bumper. They do add to the overall look I like. Its just not a 'need' for me. From from my perspective even those that 'need' armor bumpers, would be better served by adding skids and sliders first.

I added IFS skid, then sliders, then other skids, then front bumper, then rear bumper. Do people really add bumpers before skids? That's backwards.

My IFS skid is the only piece that has taken a HARD hit, and it has without a doubt saved my truck from serious damage at least twice. I guess my sliders have been used during the times I've high-centered, but I'm not sure how much damage they prevented. They're REALLY useful as steps though.

My plans were to mod my 2nd gen, but it looks like my son is getting that truck when he turns 16 in May. So my 3rd gen will be a slow build. I've got sliders, decent tires and a exhaust reroute done already, in prep for some flat skid plates. After that, a mild 2" suspension lift will be next.

No real good reason. Always been a fan of those 4Runner pro wheels. Half tired of the negative offset of my current wheels. I'm running a matching spec'd spare so that may be the achilles heel that nixes the whole idea anyway.

I like those 4R pro Sema wheels too. I wanted a set to put on my 2nd gen, but I'm gonna leave the factory wheels on that one for my son. He can upgrade himself. I have 17" KMCs on my 3rd gen with -12 offset and I love em! They sit flush with my fenders.

Does the 3rd gen ARB bumper have crumple zone? 1st gen had them, 2nd gen does not.

I don't know that I've ever "used" my IFS skid. I do feel like I need the transmission skid though...my trans oil pan has a small dent from an obstacle in Arkansas along the high watermark trail.

I think Ironman4x4 is doing some good sales right now. At least I see ads on instagram for them. They were the first lift I installed on my Tacoma and I would absolutely use them again.
