FWIW: I had the Spec-U exhaust. I tuned the truck using HPTuners, got quite familiar with things. Was able to move about 200g/sec of air with just the exhaust. Adding the Spec-U headers I was up towards 210g/sec. Hated the resonance in the Spec-U Y-pipe after adding the Spec-U headers, I put back on the stock Y-pipe (with cats) and stock exhaust. Airflow returned to ~195g/sec of airflow.

The restriction in the exhaust is the stock manifolds, not the exhaust.

interesting so after all that would you suggest just leaving everything stock for performance? I have an Aero 2525 Muffler on right now. Or possibly just get the headers?

While not technically legal, I found the headers with the stock exhaust to be a FANTASTIC combo. Stock sound and visuals and 99% the performance of a full y-pipe + exhaust for only $600.

Great, did you get the O2 simulator as well? Still concerned about passing emissions, not to worried about the visual side, especially for the headers. My thought now after hearing this is getting the headers along with some type of dual exhaust that would just connect to the rear cat

lol, according to their performance table I would have around 500hp, dunno if I believe that though

I’m in mi now so no inspection, when I lived in bklyn, you needed a inspection, at the time I was running a ford pick up with 351 Clevend upper and Windsor lower. Zero cats, all you do is find the right station and they use a car with good exhaust to do the tests, I am
Now I’m in michigan and , I have a 2010 Raptor with 33k miles on the big v8. It’s not my every day driver I have a f150 that’s a 2020 all stock, lol boring. but I love my raptor has headers. No cats ar all, few other things. Tuner etc. it’s amazingly faster and runs solid. my son runs a trd tundra same set up but it’s a Toyota huge difference especially with headers. My girls Tacoma I only did the rear cat, and it woke right up (with pedal commander and cold air intake). This isn’t a political forum, and no one should be able to tell us how to run our cars. Someone mentioned the cars behind the truck. Go to a different lane.
My father raced cars from the 60’s to late 90’s he is 80 he now has a fully restored “stock” box nova . No emmisons at all and he’s in bklyn ny it passes every inspection.
Just to old to race lol. It will make your Tacoma run better, faster, I know on my raptor my mechanic welded in bungs for the o2 sensors, so no lights. And I have a bull dog tuner it makes a huge difference depending on tune. My mechanic took the cats off my sons truck, my fiancé’s truck,
No check engine lights sounds better. With all the junk the govt let’s other countries pump into our food, air, etc loosing the emmisons isn’t going to hurt. gun rights being infringed, gas stoves , what we drive.
It’s worth it doing your Tacoma , I do recommend the headers , ( look for spacing issues in some cases if no lift or it’s a sport) loose the cats , throw a pedal commander in it . Amazon has cold air Kn air in take (amazon choice ) 247$ On my sons tundra we did a closed box with snorkel. I don’t feel it’s worth both but he is 20. It’s your car , your paying the bills , and insurance, and over priced gas if you wanna get political. Do what you want.
Lol we have a Rv, I took the cats off of that and threw straight pipe in, it runs 100% stronger. Look up the history of emissions, it’s all ridiculous. Best of luck , post some pics when done, it took me a second to become a Toyota fan. I bought my sons tundra because it had everything he wanted , only options for the truck he has were color and wheels. And unlike ford they gave him 80k warranty front to back, including the first break replacement. If a bulb goes out toyota fixes it. With him in school in colorado and teaching sking I feel good he is in a truck that he just needs to bring to the dealer and they don’t ask questions. One dealer in Montana, gave us a issue about modifications, but it all worked out. best of luck and don’t worry about people behind you. Your in front because your faster lol

My dad taught me lol growing up in nyc we had to have inspections, and there’s away around them. It’s nice in Mi now zero inspections. I had a really good teacher.
Pops is 80 and still drives his box nova, as much as he can. Lol but there’s a lot left to learn lol
Have a great weekend. Hoping for some snow, but this winter’s been dead. My son in colorado is loving it.

Years ago in Minnesota, we had emission testing. Before you could get your license tabs your vehicle needed to pass a visual inspection and the emission test. I don't recall why they ended it, but it must have been some cost-benefit calculation.

In michigan nada. My raptor, We have a Tacoma. Son a tundra, lol my side by side. our Rv. All have been altered, the biggest issue is my son takes the spark arrestor off his banshee, and have gotten tickets from the dnr in Huron forest. It is the last 2 stroke we own. We have a pair of rmz 450’s his banshee which for getting a scholarship my fiancé and I had it tottally rebuilt from a shop in albany ny. And my side by side is loud , but never a issue. Been trying to convince soon to be wife to let me trade it in for a Turbo, no go she said after the wedding:( I’m 47 second marriage. But she is 29 and we been together 6 years friends of her dad so it’s not worth loosing her over .

Sorry for long post bored at a play we are at lol

Remains to be seen I bought the tires and wheels the rest came along
It comes down to the Georgia Emissions and inspections laws.

Remember you are committing a Federal Crime.

Yeah I’m originally from bklyn and we had inspections, I work hard for my cars and toys. And there mine. I don’t have loans on them, I own them. So Im going to run them how I see fit. We are loosing more and more rights and freedoms every day.
My dads box nova, my chevele and all us car collectors have cars that weren’t built with these emmisions. There are companies pumping way more toxins in our water and air then a few people making there cars run better. So all the people with classic cars are supposed to go have emmionss added. I like when I floor my pops nova or my ss, I can chirp in every gear . ( well his nova can) lol . I couldn’t imagine running cats or any emmions on those cars. It’s the same argument with people running diesel, I
Am all for them taking off a abundance of crap. Which most is bad for the cars.
I mean my mother has a 2013 Bmw, and the cats were stolen 2300$ to replace. She didn’t like how it sounded without them.
That’s were we are people are stealing them. Well I don’t have any to steal.
Respectfully there are people committing real crimes.
