What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

I don’t under stand how that set up works.

 

Not solid mounted like tacking, like plates that are drilled and positioned a certain way. So you can still adjust, similar to the way you adjust SPC's.

Basically depending on which way you flip the plate, is which way it pushes the cams. Or are you saying even a setup like this, things will basically be "crossed up"?

 

Yeah, I don't have an issues with my cams moving after adding the cam tab gussets.

The problem is the rear cams are all the way out, and the front cams are all the way in, causing the LCA and bushing to sit crooked in the mounts. If I had an adjustable upper, I could put the LCA in a more neutral position, and then make some plates that fit in where the cams used to go.

 

I wouldn't be..not really. Be proven many times with many different parts that some how the OEM stuff is just better.

Only advantage of the Solo LCAs is the added caster really...not sure its worth 1100 dollars...but is nice.

 

Spare wheel came in. Just need to get the tire mounted.

 

I've been in Solomon trail shoes for 15+ years now, multiple pair of course, not same lol They seem to be perfectly shaped for my feet. You got good taste
(not that you care about what I think of your shoes , but hey I like to throw out the compliments when it's deserved. And your Solomons deserved it)

 

Vasque FTW

I have a pair of Solomons my dad gave me that he didn't like after wearing a couple times, they're good too but generally too wide for my narrow feet. Vasque makes a good narrow foot hiking boot

Yeah they're a well made brand too as well. I haven't had any but know they have a good reputation. I might've owned some Vasque boots before actually. Pretty sure I did

I'm going to revisit the previous suggestion on the hose kink suggestion. Does your lower hose still use the Dodge Neon lower hose that is shaped like an S? If so, it may be kinking. I discovered mine was kinking when it was heated up. It would restrict flow slightly under normal load, then collapse shut when under excelleration. I ended up shoving a stainless coil in the lower hose and haven't had the issue since. (This was happening with a brand new lower hose).

 

Unless the LCAs are cracked or damaged. I don't understand why they would ever need to be replaced. Just replace the bushings with Whitelines.

 

Thanks for the input, on my custom radiator I’m actually using the stock 3.4 lower radiator hose.
There is a chance it might collapse a little under higher rpms, didn’t think of it that way.

The dealership did put in the OEM stat and it’s running inbetween 185-190 right now,
So will keep an eye on things.

Where did you get the stainless steel radiator hose support from?

well, there's a lot of trimming/fitting to do - you should always tack these in with the bolt & UCA in place, IMO. They don't fit right out of the box (at least mine didn't)

 

Is it necessary to remove the engine to get to all the points that need welded?

I got the stainless coil off eBay.

I had also found them on Summit, but I think eBay was just cheaper.

 

Ideally, yes, imo. I know a bunch of folk who have welded what they could reach and have been fine, though. I'm planning on welding the back-side of mine when I have the opportunity; fwiw.

 

I welded mine without.

When I did eventually pull the engine, I decided they were plenty well welded. I added a few little beads on the back, but they probably weren't needed.
