I was sooooooo looking forward to low weight/high rep lifting two weeks ago.

I changed my mind. This hurts way more. Currently squatting sets of 12@RPEcrossfit.

This is why I cancelled my internet. Waste of damn money.

If you cancelled yours would your employer pay for a hotspot for you to work?
    My husbands does

I think today will be a rest day, dogs woke me up around 6:30, hair appointment at 9:00 and the I went and worked on my truck, in the next 20 minutes or so I need to get dressed for work and I’ll head in and probably stay at least until midnight if not 1 or 2.

I feel your pain. Cox Communications isn’t any better. They are basically the only option in my area and charge ridiculous rates for their services.

5x5 is designed to be a beginner program and develop base strength to then move into an intermediate program.

There are a lot of youtube videos, Mark Rippletoe/ starting strength, Alan Thrall, and Athlean X are some of my favorites. As already stated you start with low weight and get experience with reps before the weight gets heavy. You can always set your phone up to record you from the side if you want to review your form. I am getting back into the gym and just finished week 5 of the stronglifts program using the app, the weight for the first few weeks is pretty light and I felt silly lifting it but had to swallow my ego and focus on the goal of where I want to be at the end of the year. I started with the recommended empty bar for squat, bench & press, and 65 for rows and 95 for deadlift, I made one 20lb jump in squats and 30lb jump in bench instead of 5lb from week 2 to week 3 because they felt too light. I feel like its an easy program to stick with because the progression and routine are spelled out for you, all you have to do is get to the gym and lift the weights.

Keto works, I won’t argue that. But to say your body doesn’t need carbs is completely false. Now it doesn’t need them in the quantities that most people take them in and in the crappy chips and other stuff we eat. But you do need quality carbs in your diet. There is a reason why when you are truly in ketosis you smell like fingernail polish remover. You body isn’t meant to be overloaded with ketone production. While I’m the first to say if need to get some fat off or lean up, it works great. Long term, that’s still up for debate.

Nah. Just rebuilding from the bottom and giving my body a break from the heavy stuff. Lots of rest between sets. Reps will come down in the coming weeks. 10s next, then 8s, and so on.

I did jump in with with all my CrossFit ring friends on Tuesday for a little conditioning work. Maaaaan, I’m out of shape. I have zero desire for that anymore. Haha. Definitely hooked on the specificity of strength.

Guess it’s time to get my diet back on track. Feeling pretty fluffy. Haven’t tracked anything since the meet. Lots of treats and beers lately.

my goal is to be the strongest 182lb I can be April 11th.

I was feeling great at 185p 230c 100f before the meet. Think I’ll probably lay off the carbs a little for a couple weeks to get rid of some of this bloat I have going and then use those same numbers as a starting point.

Your body can make its own carbohydrates, therefore it is not an essential nutrient.
Through gluconeogenesis your body can make carbs.

There are multiple types of ketones your body makes in ketosis. In the beginning stages its mostly beta ketones, which can give off an acetone smell in sweat. As you become better adapted you stop producing this kind of ketone (which is why beta ketone blood meters are less effective at measuring ketosis as you stay in ketosis longer).
This is just a natural product of this process. Just because you think someones smell is off is not an indication of their health.

Lets stick to the science and not make things up to bash a particular diet. Misinformation regarding nutrition is responsible for our nations poor health and obesity epidemic.
