If I remember right Toyota presented the FJ Cruiser concept at auto show and got a lot of good reception, which led to a production. But nobody actually had "production prints" or supply chain established for FJ cruiser so they used 2DR prado frame and Tacoma/4Runner engine and that's how it was build in record time for mass production.

FFS, go get your fake pro wheels :luvya:

NOBODY calls them Land Cruiser Prado out east, just Prado, not to shame the actual Land Cruiser.

I'm definitely not opposed to forking out $$ for value. I'm old, not boomer old, but mullet old. Party in the back and all business up front. You drive my twin ... I 5100'd the rear and swapped to factory OR rims (16) over the sport 17s. The combo of those two made the rear ride exactly as I like. If there is an improvement over stock front I'm all ears but I don't have a complaint about stock.

Not that I'd be replacing stock with stock

Not quite. The 2-dr Prado has a 96.5" wheelbase. The 4-dr Prado/GX/4Runner have 109.8" wheelbase. The FJ is somewhere in between with 105.9" wheelbase. But yes most of the frame, suspension, and powertrain parts are common, while the FJ's cab is made at a Hino plant that is more geared for short-run production.

I thought the stock front was pretty darn good on road... but would shake you around like a marble in a coffee can when your off road.

Then I put on the 8112's... and I realized that the stock front suspension really wasn't as good as I though it was on the road.
In fact it was terrible on Hamilton roads...
And really, really was terrible off-road.
In fact it sucked donkey balls...

You won't realize how bad the stock suspension is until you try something else.
Even the 5100's are considered a "base" shock, and look how much of a difference it made in the back,

If you go to the higher end suspensions, it makes your truck feel like you spent $90k for it.

The reservoir shock systems, when built properly, are better in every way than mono-tube and twin tube shocks. Except cost.
And you can't beat the overland factor of reservoirs in your wheel wells!

So if you're around Hamilton we'll take a tour and compare rides.... :bikewhoops:
Then we'll see if you still don't have any complaints about stock. LOL

You'll have those front shocks/springs in the dumpster before the parts truck leave your driveway.... :sawzall:

Lots of time to jump in different people's trucks and get your ass calibrated to different systems out there.

Yeah if your ever in town or at the next meetup I'll take you for a spin, you won't believe it's the same model truck.

A nice bumpy long fire road would be a better demo... Stock suspension would be like a bucking bronco.....

But they're part of the cruiser line.
In no way connected to the FJ cruiser.
