It only needs to have the ground tied into the main panel

Run a ground wire with the sub feed cable. The ground will stay at the main load center.

If it’s feed from a separate utility source yes. If it’s sub feed from the main you run a ground in the cable assembly.

We did a sidewalk around to the driveway while doing our patio extension. Along the sidewalk we made a giant pad area which we use as a dog wash area because it’s sloped and water runs right off. Also did a trash can pad. Definitely worth it.

Vacuum cleaners. Why are they limited to 12 amps? I found reference of UL supposedly limiting them to 12 amps (link below) but couldn't get access to the UL requirements without paying. Can anyone shead some light on this? Why vacuums? Does this generally apply to all appliances?

Most appliances are going to top out at 12 amps because if they drew any more than that they'd be blowing 15 amp breakers. (and people would be grumpy and blaming the appliance rather than the fact that they plugged into a circuit that was too small.) Now if you have something like a window air-conditioner that really needs 20 amps they'll use a plug that looks like this:

A typical kitchen is wired using a 20 amp circuit, but that is so you can run the toaster and the mixer at the same time without blowing the breaker.

I suppose if you really feel like 12A isn’t enough power for your vacuum (not a good indicator btw), you could swap the motor with a 2 cycle engine. Never had a need for anything other then a standard vacuum from a quality brand. :notsure:

This is the model Tim “The Tool Man” Taylor has.

    A thing or two...
Did my first home repair projects today. Nothing major, but under $40 in parts and an hour or so.

The toilet flush handle in the guest bathroom broke.
    20191116_134848.jpg

New handle installed. Whose idea was it to use a lefthand thread on the handle attachment? That took a minute to figure out to get the old one out.
    20191116_134923.jpg

Faucet in the master bathroom was leaking around the handle. Disassembly was straight forward. Reassembly took a second because the new seals were stiff, and I really had to push down to get everything seated while screwing on the top cap.

The removed faucet guts that were replaced.

doing laundry and was luckily home, downstairs toilet and kitchen sink started backing up...cuaght and shut off washer within a c*** hair of spilling over...called home warranty folks and they sent plumber out to figure it was on the city side...now waiting on them and they're spread thin prepping for the nor'easter downpour headed our way. so now we wait...

definitely have a healthy respect for trades folks, especially plumbers

Need some help. The wall my TV is mounted to was built with 2x3 instead of the typical 2x4. All I have connected to the TV is a Roku and a sound bar.

I would like to put the wires, Roku, power, and ethernet behind the TV but there is no space so I'm thinking of a box. The problem I'm having is that they are all very small or gigantic. What options do I have? Anyone know of a media box that has an outlet, space for Ethernet keystone's, and will fit in s 2x3 wall?

I've considered carving out the drywall and building a cubby but only as a last resort.

So are you just looking for a shallow electrical box for the wall? I’m a little confused by the question.

City folks said just a sludge build up. Sending a pressure blaster truck out tomorrow but we’re back in business. House is new construction in an older neighborhood and old house was empty for a couple years and a vacant lot for a few more after that. Just glad they didn’t have to do any digging.

I have this one but it is 3.25" deep

PowerBridge ONE-CK Recessed In-Wall Cable Management System with PowerConnect for Wall-Mounted Flat Screen LED, LCD, and Plasma TV's https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00GWGZKF6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_Nfk0DbRZCNF11

You could always pad out the area of the outlet box with 1x stock.

Or create your own in wall extension cords with 2 outlets and some romex. Im no electrician, but i dont see why it wouldnt work

I like the pad out idea. 1/2" would likely be enough.
