I just clicked over 70,000 miles of mixed city/highway driving on my 2018 6MT. I'm wondering how much longer I can expect the original clutch to last.
Who's hit 100k on a 3rd Gen manual? Have you experienced any slipping or failures?

Mine only has 13k miles :p, but I figure if a clutch makes it through the first 10k miles without failing due to a manufacturer defect then long life depends on how you use it.

Now, the wretched clutch pedal on the other hand, how long will that piece of crap last? How is yours at 70k? Any squeaking, clicking, side to side play? Mines been replaced once under warranty for sounding like a haunted house door, and started groaning again recently, I just greased it for now. Plastic garbage. A member in the manual trans fan club thread has been sourcing some parts like a metal FJ Cruiser pedal and Land Cruiser master cylinder, I'm very curious to see how that mod turns out.

Less than 3k here over 5 months... 99.9% city driving, so a lot of use on the pedal... Im good...

6K on my '19 and the clutch actually feels better than it did at first. I expect 150K on mine.

5500mi here. Im a little worried about the accumulator causing premature clutch wear. I guess we'll see how it goes.

    Lol, “calling all high mileage”

response “well, I have 3k miles on my truck...”

OP, it’s really going to vary. Type of driving, how you drive the clutch, etc. some people will get less than 100k and others 200k. You’ll know when it starts slipping a bit. But even at 70k miles (I’m assuming on a 3rd gen that you do a decent amount of highway), you probably have awhile to go

HIGH MILEAGE MEANS MORE THAN 10K

I typically see the factory clutch go at 100,000 miles or 160,000kms.

Well since no one else here drives their truck...

I’m over 95,000 on the original clutch. 10,000 of that is towing miles around the country. Decent number of off-road miles

    original clutch. Zero problems

Mine squeaked at like 30k. Greased it and it’s been quiet for the next 60k

Typical TW responses. I clicked this thread just to see how many people with 3k miles would responded. I wasn’t disappointed. I also love these types of threads. Asking how long a wear item can last....

I’ve seen people burn a clutch out in less than 100 miles and seen some almost 150k. That’s a pretty big range so the obvious answer is it varies

Just to spruce the thread up a bit and stay relevant to the topic, here’s what to avoid to get prolonged life:

    72k on my ‘16

Feels, to me, like its gotten harder to push in. Confirmed when I recently test drove a ‘20 Pro MT, which had a super light push. And its also developed a bit of a groan about halfway through the push. Guess i’ll need to grease that bitch soon. Other than that, i guess its working fine. I don’t see any reason it won’t make it to 100k

OOC - what is everyone planning to replace theirs with when the time comes? OEM? Stage 2? I really have no idea what’s out there but i guess at a pace of ~25k miles per year, i should start looking soon...

Was just thinking on the this topic the other day and wondering the same question. I'm at 70,000 kms (34,000 miles) on a two year old clutch and I do a metric shit ton of stop and go traffic daily.

I don't know about the 3rd gen yet (40k) but this is my 5th Toyota truck with MT and I put 200k+ on three of them and never had any transmission work done of any kind.
