^ If you do go. I wanna thank you for serving out country.

I remember when I was in high school and I went into a Marine & Army recruiting center with my friends. 4 of us walked in, 2 only walked out as civilians. . .It wasn't for me.

Do yourself, and more importantly those who you would potentially be serving with, a favor and do not join the military because you think you're getting into an easy job (MOS) or branch. We're at war and if you're not there for the right reasons than you're a liability.

And you don't want to calculate out what a Private makes per hour - it's criminally low IMHO...

intern intern intern intern intern, i whored myself out to internships between the ages of 18-22 and now i have a comfortable job in a shitty economy. Dont go for the green when ur that young, shape up that resume, because after college, your entire life will be summed up by that one piece of paper by a job recruiter.

You get out of life what you put into it. At your age, you should be busting your ass.

I was in the Army at your age. Man up and quit slacking.

x2! best way to get in the door. that's how i got my current job outta college. started as an intern, making basically just enough to scrape by... 6 months later, converted to full-time, regular employee... still have the job, even through the downturn.

HEY HEY im in the marines, and im still in one piece!!
Each branch has its PROs/CONs IMO there is no branch thats better than the other, each has its own purpose whether its on a strategic level or tactical level.
I was 18 when i joined and i was out of a job and going nowhere in life, i joined the Marines, and look at me now, i drive a tacoma and i can afford a lift lol ok ok but serious...I agree with what everyone posted, and if your not joining for the right reasons...your going to get weeded out...liability...and even saying that....the Military isnt always the best option...go to a community college...cuz when i look back at it now, i wish i would have done that first.....now i get to spend another 6 months in Afghanistan....yippie...

everyone in this economy serves to improve this country in one way or another. By joining the work force, you are increasing supply and thus improving the GDP of our country.
