19 sport with eBay pro grille here, the dealership i used, had me sign the paper that people have posted, and yes they turned off the PCS system; but i was able to go into the system and turn it back on and it has stayed on since without issues. I did not get a sticker on the dash about not using the system.

My dealership did mine in July, after the tech took some measurements. Without signing anything.

    Empyre Offroad Grill (TSS ready)
3" OME lift from Headstrong Offroad

The original OEM grill mounted the sensor high in the grill. The Empyre offroad mounts it low. With the lift, it put it within spec, as the technician measured it. Got the TSB applied as is. No special agreement signed.

The sensor is below the "CO". Please don't mind the bug spatter!

Got mine done at the dealership and I’m running King suspension with a pro grille and 265 70 17 wheels. My service writer is pretty cool

FYI-Parker Toyota in Coeur d' Alene, ID completed the TSS recall on my 2018 TRDOR with pro grill and TRD SEMA wheels/BFG's tires no questions asked. They also completed the latest transmission TSB 0062-18. I highly recommend this dealership if you are in the vicinity.

Also had this issue today, will not do the recall because of my aftermarket Pro grille. (as stated by service tech) Have had minor issues with it turning off in a heavy rain, and a few random "Brake Now" displays for no reason but see no issue with it. Worse came to worse I could change back to stock grille, if I had kept it, and they would change it out. (as state by service tech) Personally, not too worried about it. (knocks on wood)

My sensor works fine so every time the dealer brings it up I just tell them to ignore it.

So upon review of (most of) this thread, it sounds like results are mixed. Anywhere from "my dealer made me sign a paper and they turned off my pre-collision system" to "my dealer wouldn't touch it - did not do the fix" to "my dealer did it without saying a peep about my grille/lift/whatever".

I'm guessing my dealer would probably make me sign the paper and would disable my Pre-collision system (PCS).

I'm wondering if that impacts my adaptive cruise control... I couldn't care less about pre-collision system but I really dig the adaptive cruise. Also, does signing the paper make the warranty void on the sensor itself? If there's a known-issue with water getting into the sensor, I don't want to play games because those are expensive to replace!

    Thanks in advance.

It is my understanding that they don't really disable it, they change it to remember the last state instead of defaulting to ON after each ignition cycle. Basically they apply TSB 0059-18.

When it is off, the radar cruise control will not work. You will still be able to turn it on from the controls in the truck, and then the radar cruise control will work.

Dealer did mine with aftermarket TRD wannbe grill and all it was is cheap 1/4" self adhesive weather trim foam along top. Never had an issue now I've been in already once and keep getting "clean sensor" issues all a sudden.... going to have to take it back for a 3rd time now and hoping they just replace it. Never had an issue until they stuck foam on it....

Dealer had originally refused to do the recall but said they’re now doing it if you sign a waiver. Had mine done but never was asked to sign anything.

I don't think it is reducing the demand for PRO.

I am not sure if anyone would refuse to buy a different trim just because the grill was different.

Toyota blocks a lot of trd pro parts sales for some reason, I tried to get the parking brake cable spacer from the dealer, they said nope, need a pro vin and a good reason that I need one.

I love my TSS, I use the dynamic cruise control daily. You cannot blame Toyota taking this action when they have made it clear they no longer recommend lifting their trucks. People are sue happy, from a company perspective their legal team will take precautions to reduce potential liability with a system that was designed for a specific geometry.

I find it kinda interesting that in another thread people were complaining about having TSS, now people are complaining about it being turned off to prevent malfunction on a modified truck, that the owner willfully modified.

I knew well in advance I would not be lifting my truck because of the TSS system.

My Toyota dealer has the TRD Pro Grilles and Wheels displayed at the parts counter. No VIN required. They don’t even ask you what vehicle it’s for unless you ask.
