Seems like an interesting trade off, Not too sure if i want to reduce suspension travel, but extra ground clearance would be very good.

If it's for looks and you don't plan on off roading too crazy than a Spacer lift isn't a bad idea. Wayyy cheaper.

If you plan on off roading don't do a Spacer lfit. Do a legit lift.

Body lift... I mean I hear guys do it to fit big ass tires but all I know is it's situational and widely hated.

Cool thanks man thats not bad. Are you running stock size or one size up? Or are you running more than one size up with a lift? From my understanding you can only run stock size or one size up on the off road package without modifying anything

Also What suspension are you running and what size are your tires?

Could always go for the skinny 255/85/16s for the extra couple of inches of clearance. But I guess you have tires already.

I do, and i could sell them honestly, https://www.discounttire.com/buy-tires/yokohama-geolandar-m-t-g003/p/42372 so with this size it will give me a little extra clearance and not have to perform a cab chop or anything like that? just bolt and play? lol

Please hit me up when you test your tires in the snow, would love to know how they perform. Live in the rocky mountains and i can get some serious snow up here

The only way to increase actual ground clearance from the lowest part of the truck is with larger tires. Suspension lifts will not change clearance at the axles. For what you say you want to do with the truck Bilstein 5100 shocks with OME springs and leaf pack will work fine.

Thanks man for the direct answer! Can you throw me some links? And with Bilstein 5100 shocks with OME springs and leaf pack, what is the largest tire size i can do with out cab mount chop? And is a cab mount chop the only mod i need to fit big tires?

255/85/16 are the safest bet for a 33" tire and no rubbing. 285/75/16 will rub if you stuff the tires up and turn but it's not a big deal if you aren't wheeling hard.

There's a huge thread about that tire size I suggest you read up on.

Some 255/85 /16s run a little taller than others and so might have more chance of rubbing. I went with Cooper St Maxx's which I believe run on the slightly smaller end of those just in case. Do your research.

Which is exactly the same thing the Bilsteins do that everyone harps about.

The only way to truly lift and retain all travel and ride is with a system that lowers all points of contact and incorporates different geometry of parts. You cant just shove the factory stuff down and expect everything to be the same as a delivered stock truck

The point of a body lift or suspension lift it to get bigger tires on the vehicle. The bigger tires is how you gain clearance between the ground and the underbody. Now there definitely is a difference between how each gives room to the tires.

The body lift raises the cab and box to make room but the frame and components in the frame only gain the extra clearance from the bigger tires.

A suspension lift lowers the centerline of the hubs, raising the frame and components higher increasing clearance with the larger tires to those components.

It is also possible to use both in combination to lift a vehicle.

    I prefer the suspension lift.

That’s not correct regarding the Bilsteins.

With the weight of the vehicle on the spring, the spring length at any position of the height clip stays the same with the Bilstein 5100s.
The length of the shock below the spring increases. This provides lift.

The amount of suspension travel stays the same.

When lifting the suspension by pushing the lower control arm further down (with an extended shock body) sooner or later you will get to a point where the control arms can't droop any further. Where that point is on a Tacoma, I'm not sure yet.

    Ditto this.

I lifted both ends of my truck 2" for less than $100 around a year ago.
Still rides and drives like stock.
I would have felt really fucking stupid if I spent a couple grand on a full suspension kit just to do the same thing.
