I'm gonna go against the grain here and say that if you spend 90% of your driving on the road, Kings and ADS with clickers would be a little overkill. But if you get the bedrack/RTT, then that's when you'll need a suspension upgrade the most, but funds are already spent on said rack/RTT. Plus those Kings and ADS will have to be pulled off your truck and rebuilt every so often. I'd put exhaust and dashcam on the back burners. After 30+ years of Alabama wheeling, I've realized that tires and suspension are some of the first and best upgrades you can and should do to your truck. Of course, this is my own opinion among many others.

If I had 2K to spend right now, I'd get a decent suspension set up and a full set of skids.

If i had a 2wd truck, I would do a spindle lift in the front. You can get 4 inches of lift that way and all you need are the spindles and extended brake lines. They are a bit more than spacers or springs but you will retain factory steering geometry so no need for new upper control arms. If you lifted a 4wd truck with springs and spacers 4 inches, UCA would be a must.

True, but atleast if you go big and need to regear, you only need to worry about paying to regear one axle. You can probably find a used 3rd with 4.88's for under $500 and call it a day.

a used 3rd member. Toyota gears can be removed from the axle as a complete unit called a 3rd member. So if you have 2 of the same toyota trucks with the same rear ends but different gear ratios, each truck can remove it's 3rd and swap with the other. This is a good thing b/c if you can find a complete 3rd with the ratio you need for the axle you have, you can have new gear ratios without having to pay for a gear install.

Relentless just released their 3rd gen hybrid. Sounds like the 2nd gen version will be unveiled next week.

All my rigs are purpose built. From crawling to camping. I also enjoy a nice stock truck for what that’s worth. Toyota’s are the jam!
Well that was one hell of a day trip. Drove 550miles today to check out a teardrop.
It was nice but not completely finished out how I would like.

So the trailer is as very cool. It was tight on the inside. I think it was 75x48, so it was a skinny teardrop. Most are 5’ wide on the inside.
It was really a teardrop for one and a dog.lol

I did like, but for the money he was asking which started at 8500 then he dropped it to 7500 pretty quick. Was a bit much considering these things.

The bottom of the trailer was treated wood (WTF no Alum or SS bottom pan), so it was treated wood on top of a nice steel frame.
Look at the pics, that flat panel above the frame is treated wood. That was a big NO for me, the flirt would eventually pull on water.

Second, the suspension was off, as in wasn’t lined up in the wheel wells proper. It also was way to soft/flexy.
It was also missing struts to hold the hatches open.
Lastly, not all the wood work was finished. He had a little bit more to do.

I really liked it, and we are talking about a trade for one of my KTMs, as he rides. Is it as nice as other teardrops I have seen on the Overland Expo vids, No.
But then again it was half/a third the price.

So just got off the phone with headstrong Friday

Do I really need extended travel?

They do not have an extended setup with no clickers in stock.

Debating whether or not I really need the extended. 90% of my driving is on the road and then it’s usually forest service roads and such.

If I go with standard, then I can hold off on the UCAs for now and spring for clickers which I think I might enjoy to dial in the ride.

    So the options are:

Extended Remote resi w/UCAs and a 4-6wk lead time

Standard Remote Resi w/ clickers - ships Monday, no UCAs

    What does your gut say?
It sounds to me you would be fine with either. However, when we spoke at your place in the driveway, it appeared as though you wanted to build this out to the nines.
Now either option you listed is a huge upgrade. But don’t let lead times make your decision.
