Indeed. Blessed to have grown up in Clayton and have had a little cabin thats been in the family since the early 1940's. Otherwise theres no way in hell I could afford a place on any of those lakes these days.

Put a Smaller Gun on your 252 if your finding the gun it came with to big .

I never did care for Miller Guns or does your have the Bernard

I pretty much just use 180 Amp guns and .023 unless I need to do some serious welding .

Then I swap in the liquid cooled gun

I am glad you clarified Beginner Welders !!

In my Mack Truck Warranty days I had no Problem welding in some of the strangest positions using the Lincoln SP-120 .023 wire and CO2 if I could get it .

LOL! I bet that lit you up. Grew up with an electric fence on land behind the house.

At a friend's place a bunch of us kids were jumping back and forth between two wagons with a fence between. His sister slipped and landed with one leg each side and the wire you-know-where. As these are pulsed at ~1-second intervals she had just enough time to know what was coming....

Grabbing your buddy's ear with one hand and the fence with your other does cause a scene. You were expecting the jolt but he wasn't. (yes, now that I'm older I know that wasn't a smart idea either, but still an amusing memory.)

    If your choice is
I haven’t seen too many spots these days where I benefit from smaller gun, but these days most of my work is bench work. . I used to always change mine out to the stubby profax setup, but these days I just run the factory guns till they break. I will agree on the .023 wire. It’s the only thing I run in the 211 and smaller sized machines. I’ve been planning on trying it out in the 252, but I’ve been too lazy to buy new drive rollers.

At the end of the day my opinion is if all you can get is a 120v welder or your house service is only 120 volts its far better that no welder at all. But if you’re on the fence about what voltage machine to get and think it’s something you’re gonna be addicted to like many of us have, buy a dual voltage machine and give you a ton of room for growth.

If your working on a bench would you not rather have a overhead feeder it makes things so much easier.
Come Now you need one of each Plus a engine drive when the extension cord is just not quite long enough

that would be really nice, but I don’t have the space or really do enough these days to justify another welding setup.

Nothing crazy here, I made a propane burner so I can cook and fry stuff outside of the house. It uses a high pressure burner I picked up from Air Gas. I think I am going to add a "heat sheild" around the burner so It'll kinda direct the heat and block the flame from any wind.

Don’t forget some plate on the bottom of the legs so it doesn’t sink in the ground when you load it up

Good idea, I will do that today, but it'll usually be on concrete. Thanks!

I added feet and a shield around the burner.

If I’m in an enclosed space where the airflow isn’t good. I have a pass through garage that gets very good ventilation but if it’s raining or really cold I’ll close the doors and I’ll throw on my Miller half mask and it works very well. Nice and small too so it fits under your hood nicely.

If I'm welding in the garage, I usually close the side door and leave the garage open, then open the side door after welding to let air flow. Winter is coming and I'll probably be doing some garage welding. I'll give that mask a try.
