Just got my 2011 today, I've been reading for about two weeks waiting for the truck to get in. I have to say I'm nervous to pull the trigger on any kind of lift. My original plan was going with the TC UCA's, FOX C/O's set at 2.5 and AAL in the back. Got scared with all the vibration/alignment issues I read here. So next plan keeping it simple with 5100's set at .85/1.75, whatever made it level. Even with the 5100's I'm reading there are issues.

My bottom line question is this, are the vib issues correctable 9/10 times? with drop brackets/CB shims? Two weeks of reading and every truck seems to be different.

I'm not new to the mod bug, just sold my 500HP blacked out caddy CTS-V for this tacoma:eek: moving from florida to utah so I wanted a truck for some 4x4 fun.

welcome to tw and congrats on the purchase! i dont have enough experience to say that 9/10 times vibes are corrected post lift since every truck is different. i would suggest riding around seeing if it has any vibes from the factory (few cases of this but it does happen) and how you like it and then go from there. beefed taco makes some good carrier bearing drops for our trucks although i cant comment on the diff drop but with new ucas you should be okay. once again welcome

Ok let me run my "list" by ya'll and see if I'm tracking in the right direction/not overlooking something.

    Lift plan 1 and 2:

front fox coilovers set at 2.5
    TC UCA's
    diff drop bushings
    all-pro 3 pack 1.5" AAL's
    rear 5100's

or I take the less expensive route and do 5100's set at 1.75" in front, 5100's out back and the diff drop bushings? savings equal about $2000

I'm moving to utah and plan to wheel the truck around trails, moab etc. I also would like to maintain good highway manners as my daughter lives in AZ and I will driving back and forth a lot.

opinions and comments welcomed and encouraged

Go with the adjustable coilover imo. You will eventually want to go that route anyway.

I read your build thread, i assume you are 3" in the front? with the TC UCA's did you have any issue tuning in the alignment? didn't notice did you do the diff drop? and finally how does it handle at freeway speed 85-90?

    thanks

Yep, 3" lift with no diff drop. I have no problems getting it aligned. And I don't go that fast at all, especially because I have 35's on my truck. I wouldn't recommend going that fast with a 3" lift anyway.

AZ highway is 75 mph and norm for me is 8-9 over, I guess I have some more to figure out. I had a 4dr chevy Z71 before my caddy with 8" lift and 37's. I'm used to having the ability to run on/off road without issues. The Chevy did great in Glamis and towing my old toy hauler trailer.
