What Have You Done To Your 2nd Gen Tacoma Today?

Got my 255/80 17 tires installed yesterday and they rubbed the fender pretty bad. Cut the fender, fender liner, and hammered the pinch weld today. Going to get the cab mount cut later this week or next weekend.

 

Lift or no lift? Wheels will make some diference s well but it doesn't seem to be as apparent with that size. I rubbed a little with them before the lift but not bad pretty much trimming the plastic was all that was needed.

Did some long over due maintance, don’t know if this is common but had two different brands of plugs in it. Also cleaned the throttle body and the mass air sensor. Hopefully it will increase my mpg. It really has fallen off lately.

 

Installed an SOS Concepts rear bumper.

 

Yeah making my own is more fun I guess haha Plus I've been using it as a seat belt chime delete as well.

 

I’ve got about 3” of lift in the front. Wheels are TRD 4runner wheels. I told the alignment tech to set the caster at +3 or more to push the wheels as far forward as possible. It doesn’t look like the lower control arm rear cam is set correctly for that. They didn’t show me the alignment specs, I just trusted that they did it right. From what I had read the 255/80s should have fit without cutting the cab mount if the alignment is set right.

it does drive and handle well right now though.

 

Did mine a month or so ago. Toyota makes that standard to have two different types for whatever reason. I saw a 1.8 mpg increase after replacement

Gave her a bath and bunch of wax, and coated a bunch of the frame and new lift parts with some rust prevention before the winter starts getting heavy. Oh and got the cb drop installed, seems to have taken care of some of the vibes

Yep I cut my cab mount but it was only because I was bored and playing with the welder. It was in no way necessary. Hell at 1 3/4" lift i still wouldn't need it. I have 1st gen Tundra wheels so I would imaginr the specs are about the same 7.5" wide I thnk with4.5" BS

I'm not sure if it is even rubbing the cab mount. But I could definitely hear the crunch when the tire was hitting the fender/fender liner. I'm thinking about getting a cheap welder and trying the cmc myself.

 

You could cut it and leave it. I wouldn’t like the way that looked but some people have done it.

 

I would leave it before i paid the price at a lot of the welding shops around here. I know a member here who paid $400 to have it done. I almost fell down when he told me and I don't feel guilty for charging around a hundred or so anymore not that I have done one in quite a while

Also installed my new mirror from Bob’s Mirrors. The factory backup mirror in my 09 was horrible and lacked homelink. The new one has a much larger screen, homelink and is much clearer. It also has the grid lines which is nice
