My 6 element is very fond of her 19 Highlander, and frankly, on trips, I love the ride too, but for the reasons stated here, I want a bed, and Mimi has her grandbaby wagon, we love Toyotas.

The 4Runner is a great vehicle! I would probably be driving one if I didn’t need a truck bed.

    Congrats on the 4Runner.

We have both as well. 4R has more grunt at the bottom of the power band. Taco has more grunt higher up on the power band. 4R has a more Premium / nicer interior. Taco has a more modern / rugged interior. 4R is better suited for a female. Taco is better suited for a male.

I've noticed you've posted this same "fact" in several threads. Care to post your direct experience owning these two vehicles?

    We've had a 2017 Tacoma, currently have a 2019 Tacoma and a 2018 4Runner.

Have had more problems with the 4Runner than the two Tacomas combined. Squeaky front suspension, whiny rear diff, failed actuators, exhaust leak, weird paint flaws and it eats fog light bulbs. Plus it's as slow as a hog.

My take after owning both is that the "Made In Japan" and "better built" screed is bullshit....but I'm open to educated opinions on the matter.

    Congrats they are great SUVs.
I do find it a bit odd that we see quite a few treads such as this with someone going to dealerships to get one and ending up with the other.
Seems to me you typically either need a SUV or need a pickup truck. Don't see how your needs change by a trip to the dealership.

I've owned both. My Tacoma felt cheap compared to any of the 4runners I've owned.

The drive-train was fine, but the seats and overall fit and finish of the 4runner was way better.

I get a kick out of all of the insecure guys claiming that the 4runner is a soccer mom vehicle, feminine, ETC. If you need a pickup truck to feel like a man, you definitely have some sort of sexual identity issue.

the joke is on you, pal. YOU picked that “piece of shit”.

it would seem like your decision making ability is flawed.

Don’t worry, there is a fix for your condition, son. Start eating some steak and do some squats. If that don’t do the trick, get your test checked!

    Don't call me "son" smartass.

I chose the Tacoma because I always wanted one. I didn't say that it was a bad vehicle, only that it lacked in comparison to the 4runner.

Nothing wrong with that, I like the 4runner just a little pricy for me when i purchased. Honestly can't go wrong either way!

No offense, but why would anyone here care what vehicle you buy (also why this is in the 3rd gen Tacoma section)? If you like something else better, great.

It doesn't suck. There's definitely a lot less traffic there.

I still hang out here because I'm a fan of all Toyotas, and because I attend and organize a lot of events in the Midwest.
