For those who have upgraded audio (nothing crazy), what reasonable upgrades do you recommend for a 2020 TRD Pro with factory JBL "Premium" Audio.

Id like some more clarity, mids and highs, with some better lows (nothing too crazy).

    Suggestions?

Im doing a speaker upgrade right now. JBL Stadium series 2.5 Ohm all doors. IMG_0392.jpgIMG_0391.jpg

Here are pics comparing the 2019 and the 2020 Radios. The rear connections are different and there aren't any kits as of yet for the wiring.

Biggest bang for your buck is the OEM Subaru (Kicker) Plug & Play Tweeters. Sound stage comes to life with much better highs & mid. Front door speakers give you a little more bass, but a good Sub will take care of that.

Replacing your rear door speakers is almost unnoticeable, unless your sitting in the back.

Myself I bought an underseat 8" Powered Sub, wired it parallel to the rear speakers, and it's pretty decent Bass, but not earth shattering.

JBL is different. Runs from the JBL amp at 2 ohms. Subaru tweeters are 4 ohms

    Stock speakers are trash

While I dont have the factory JBL system, I went with the JBL stadium speakers also (but I went with components and added the 2 inch mid to the dash.

One thing you will need to keep in mind is that the factory JBL system is crossed over at the amp, if you just plop a new set of speakers in there, it wont sound as good as it can and you risk blowing the aftermarket tweeter.
The stock JBL tweeter is crossed over much lower than a aftermarket tweeter.

The best thing you can do if you want to impove the clarity of the front is to pickup some 2 way 3.5 inch speakers to replace the OEM tweeters. The 3.5 inch woofer will handle the midrange thats being sent to the factory tweeter, and the tweeter mounted in the middle of the 3.5 inch will give you the good highs you need.

Here is a thread to show some of it.

Both JBL and Infinity make a 3 ohm 3.5 inch speaker that will work with the factory JBL system.
