3.4l Timing Belt

Planning on getting my timing belt and water pump done soon. Wondering what else I should replace while I'm getting that done. Seals/Gaskets? Tensioners?

If you're just after the list of parts, then you'll want...to pick up:

1. Most of the parts you need in a kit on eBay. There are several of them, but I went for the 100% OEM parts kit from aircabinman.
2. The crank pulley bolt, which Toyota says is a single-use bolt given the 217 ft-lbs of torque it's under while in service. (90119-16006)
3. Two gallons of red coolant concentrate, to refill the radiator when it's reinstalled. (00272-1LLAC)
4. Six gallons of distilled water - again, for the radiator.

Also been mentioned by others to do the idlers for accessory belts and the fan bearing as yours is now 20 yrs. old. and it's had a couple pounds hanging on it that long.

Tensioner bearing - Press out the old and insert the new.
there are some small water hoses off the water pump jacket as well that I'd recommend changing if in bad shape.

I found that once you get the marks lined up, get a small spring clamp to hold the belt's teeth in place while you do the other pulleys.

 

Partsgeek sells a complete Aisin kit with everything you need, water pump, belt, idler pulleys, etc. When I had mine done, I had the mechanic throw all the old parts in a box for me. They were the exact same parts that come on the truck from toyota. Same names stamped on the bearings, with same part numbers.

 

How about new oil cooler coolant hoses. I changed mine at the timing belt service. Your right there any way.

 

+1 to the above. I recently did the 'full monty' to mine. Oil cooler hoses, radiator hoses, idlers, everything that came off that moves was replaced. A few months before that I did the valve cover gasket replacement - same deal, replaced everything - spark plugs, spark plug wires, etc. etc. Finally - watch the Timmy the Toyotaman videos and just slowly go through the steps.
