Looks like we're going to have to put our cat down. Vet just called and said he's not responding to the treatment and his kidneys will fail without dialysis every week (which is absurdly expensive). Wife is a wreck so I'm going to take the day off to drive her over there so we can say goodbye.

this is hands down the worst part about having pets

thanks, even though this is the one cat that loved to pee on our curtains and my gym bag if I left it out....I grew fond of the guy over the years. Not going to be easy but especially for my wife, she's had him since she saved him from living in a bush as a kitten.

Sucks. I used to do volunteer work for an animal rescue a long time ago. They used to send out books/pictures when/if they learned of an animal passing.
