Thanks for trying but I'm still a little confused. Wouldn't the stock gear tunes keep the same rpm shift points even with 4.88 or 5.29 gears? Me =

 

If that's the case, why would Mat be providing gearing-specific tunes for 4.88 and 5.29?

 

because there are multiple inputs and tables that determine the shift points based on the algorithm.

ETA; Reason I'm asking is I was wondering if running the 4:88 tune with stock gears would let the transmission hold the gear longer, or shift later. I think the latest 2.0 beta tune still shifts a little early for my driving style.

I know a few people have asked this question but as far as I know, no one has done it. I say give it a go, I can't imagine it'd do that much harm since we've been running tunes for stock gearing for years now without anyone managing to implode. I mean you can always flash it back to your last tune in 2 minutes if you feel the truck is not right.

 

Plus we could always use a guinea pig....

 

I thought Mat said there would be one more beta release with tune switching via putting it in S mode for Gearlock, drive plus ECT for performance and S mode with ECT for towing.

 

Regarding the 2/3 way map switching in 2.0, what was the plan for changing this? I recall it being something on the steering wheel.

Also how do I know which map has been selected? Is there an indication of the selected map?

 

I think the latest plan is it’s a simple combination of drive mode plus ECT option. Scroll back through the thread looking for my posts. Mat responded to one of mine.

What you’re describing is the proposed 2.0 final release. No more beta as per Mat.

 

Yes but it takes three tanks of gas, about three weeks for me, before a flash settles. So not really just a two minute back and forth drill. Decisions...

 

Actually, on Nov 4 Mat said there would be a beta soon for 04B04 with the items I listed.

 

I think you’d know rather quickly if it’s better or worse or somewhat the same. If it’s worse then red lash, if it’s better or about the same then let it settle in a little more.
