...... I think you're flying a tad bit fast and loose with saying that. If it's what you need to do to rationalize doing 5k oil changes than so be it.

If that was the case 10k oil changes wouldn't even be mentioned.

Also, please read this. It's called the manual and it's filled with great information. Pay attention to the part in light blue.

    7500K*=7,500x1,000=7,500,000

    7.5 million.

    Is that kilometers or miles?

Either way, it seems kind of long between changes.;-)

    *K=1,000

What does note 3 refer too? It’s raining and I don’t want to go get my manual.

    thanks!

I’m going try it for at least 1 interval, then share sample results.

We'll, you've convienantly crossed out the "dusty roads" part of it. I smell a conspiracy!
I find it funny that we are reading the exact same thing but coming to different conclusions. My interpretation is fundamentally, literally, specifically correct. Every road has dust, can't argue that lol.

You have to use the subjective "I know porn when I see it" argument lol. What is a dusty road? The manual doesn't define it, completely subjective. That's the basis I use to defend all the people who subjectively want their oil changed at 5k. The 10k-ers subjectively want to change at 10k. The only problem I have is the statement (paraphrased) "your wrong if you do anything but 10k, because engineers say so".

We'll, no, actually, the engineers wrote 5k, and I bet you won't get them to do enough testing to write down the exact opacity of air required to do 10k intervals.

If even clean air wasn't dusty, we wouldn't have near as much rain as we do.

Do you really believe that? There are Toyotas all over the 3rd world which aren’t babied like ours are and they far exceed our western world usefulness. I don’t think 5k or 10k interval is going to make or break this truck.

If 99.99% of everyone is in "dusty" conditions, why would they call that "special"?

They're talking about dusty, dirt roads, which most people never venture down, not paved roads.

Exactly. If there was a “break in period”, you’d be using a mineral oil.

Paved roads are not considered dusty roads. Common sense would suggest that "special conditions" means dirt roads or desert areas. So,
99.999999999% do not fall under the special conditions, otherwise it wouldn't be special.

There are not 100,000,000,000 Tacoma drivers on the road, dusty or no. (I mean, if we're going to be pedantic about it :D)

What have we learned here? Despite everyone and their off road lifestyle the built truck needs it's oil changed like it's driven to the mall.

    Now that's rich

It's under special conditions, meaning not the everyday road people drive down....

Now we're getting into the meteorology of oil change intervals. I like where this is headed.

If you live in Hazzard county and never see a paved road until your once-a-month trip into Capitol City, you’re operating under severe conditions and should change every 5k. Same as if you pull a trailer every day for work, or live in Alaska and deliver pizza for a living.

    Everyone else can go 10k
