RIP to my 08 Prerunner DC
I don't think they are looking for them to sell like a regular truck just something to get people talking and looking. If they make changes it keeps the truck fresh and people start talking about it again. BTW I hadn't seen one in person untill I came to school this year and have seen 3 in a month.

The 6.2 was already planned, even before the poor sales. As it was being released for was already working on implementing that 6.2.

The engine still wont help sales though. Too damn pricey. Its too easy for customers to decide between a 50k ford Long Travel truck or an 20k fully built long travel truck with bumps and a cage.

I dunno guys, that Raptor is pretty bad ass !! Kings w/rezzies as OEM ??!!

How sik is that ?? Kinda pricey yeah, I know someone that has one ,haven't rode in it yet but he says its the real deal & from reviews & evaluations I've seen that seems to be the general opinion with them.....

Hell I'd get one if $$$ wasn't an issue just my .02

Just a bunch of old crap
I followed one down a trail a couple months ago and it got high centered 3X while I walked right over everything. That didn't impress me. Yeah the seats were sharp, the engine was bigger, and it looked good but it didn't get him home.

Depends on if you want a street queen or an off road machine.

I think the Raptor is 2wd w/ locker only not 4x & I think "street queen" is a bit harsh but whatever....

Plus my buddy has a 4x 'Yota already (he aint givin' it up !) & is pretty good, experienced offroader & if thats what he said about his I believe him.

Why does everyone here hate the raptor? Have you driven one or rode in one? They ride AWESOME and they will out run pretty much all Non LT trucks in the desert. The Fox shocks on them are internal bypass shocks, which are so awesome that they come stock with them because they are expensive to buy. I personally think its great to see a production truck with a warranty be able to go out and do some of the things that I have have seen them do in person. At the last race pretty much every Trophy Truck team and Class 1 team had at least one raptor there chasing and doing some prerunning of the track. If anyone know built trucks it would be those guys.

word. i drove a raptor a few weeks ago just for shits and giggles and i wanted to trade my truck in right there. the 6.2 is freaking awesome and the truck handles great. the salesman let me tear if up pretty good on the back roads. it's a damn fun truck, expensive yes, but it's a purpose built truck and you have to pay to play

i can understand all the raptor hate here cause it's a tacoma site, but over on DR there is a ton of love for the truck because it's geared towards the dez community

    check this out...:D

your right bro... but the truck raises questions for me... how come the truck at full drop has almost the same travel as our beefed up midtravel??? dont get me wrong its a cool truck and DOES look bad ass... but im assuming those race teams that have a raptor and chase with it have done some modifications too it..??? im not convinced that a factory truck can perform like your long travel and bro i love your truck haha And y not buy a standard 4x4 f150?? and run that baja kit for it or is there to many differences.... ?? now im not trying to start shit... but i dont see how the hell one company can charge 2000$ for a fuckin sticker....:confused:

i posted this in anpother raptor thread, but i figure it's worth pointing out again. I went to the washington DC auto show this past winter, and of course i looked at the raptor when i got the the ford area. the raptor is essentially 3 inches taller than a regular f-150. to my dissapointment, when i looked underneath, i found that the 3 inches in the rear is a damn lift block! ford put a fantastic fox setup on the truck as far as the shacks go, but they tried to cut down production costs, and instead of manufacturing a different leaf pack for the raptor, they paired the normal f-150 springs with a block.....here's the picture i got of it

not saying i hate the truck. just that it's not a race truck out of the box like a lot of people with less knowlege about supension than us believe it to be

All full size trucks use blocks in the rear. Peek under a Chevy or Dodge.

IMHO, I think the Raptor is hitting the niche Ford intended. Its one of the better looking Fords, Drives nice, and is quite capable off road, right "outta the box".

nothing is perfect when you buy it... not even tacomas. yeah, the block is gay but they wanted to retain some load capacity, hence the block. deaver has developed replacement springs to get rid of the block and allow for better offroad performance.

as for the travel #'s... travel is good but the more travel you have doesnt mean you truck is going to perform better. the real key to performance is shock valving... and from what i can tell and what i have heard and read... fox got it perfect for the raptor

You took the words out of my mouth

You can have 20"s of travel up front and 30"s in the rear but if your valving is off you will still loose a race and it will ride like shit. That is the main reason why I dropped the money on my bypasses. I had smooth bodies that were just fine but to tune it i'd have to take everything a part and re-valve them. With my bypasses I can adjust them by the knobs on them. if I'm just doing things around town I'll make them softer if I'm going out to the dez I'll stiffen them so I don't bottom out. Fox and ford have the perfect balance with there valving that its awesome out of the box.

So i just priced everything out for a brand new 2011 4x4 TRD Off-Road setup just like a Raptor and no labor added and it would be $39,893 in parts and vehicle cost. Thats also no bedcage and no full size spare. All of my prices were from Polyperformance and Tirerack.
