It sounds to me like a humidity issue. Cali obviously has a very dry Mediterranean climate mostly year round. I used to paint my horns with Rusto outside and it’ll dry in a few hours too.

Close up pics of your truck?

I mean close, not the cool scenic pic with 20 dogs in the bed.

I think clearance is the issue. You might also have to reset the rear pinion angle so it's pointed directly at the tcase flange

I think one piece shafts are stupid exactly for that purpose. Why fix something that isn’t broken? Something about carrier bearings but I don’t see the problem replace it when it breaks. I was on my original one at 80k when I decided to replace it just because. Still had lots of life.

yeah I think the idea behind the one piece shafts was to eliminate the carrier bearing and all the vibes it creates for people when they lift the rear or the CB starts to go bad. But axle shims are cheap and so are new carrier bearings so I don't really see the appeal. The loss of clearance would be bad depending on what kind of wheeling you do. Smack your driveshaft on a rock and then lets talk about bad vibes lol

I see he has the no bumper aesthetic too. A man of culture.

Can’t replace the double carda how tf you spell it when it goes bad, without cutting and welding a new one I guess

I should reiterate; front drive shaft.

The rear one is the one that I could just get shortened.

As many members as there are that are willing to offer their help to knock out my conversion, I'm all about minimizing my downtime to an absolute minimum on the truck.

I don't know why people do that...do they think it makes their truck look like it's taller or something? Thats like shaving your junk to try and make your weenis look bigger...you're not fooling anyone

@Kwikvette I did my 4WD swap with the budget of a 16 year old in high school, because I was. I tried to do it as cheaply as possible which I managed to do. After I sold all my old parts the swap only cost me roughly ~$960.

The only part I splurged on was having my manual hubs powdercoated.

Oh shit lol, I thought we were talking about the rear all this time, nevermind haha. Front driveshafts are definitely cheaper than rear ones

    I recall.

For me it isn't so much the budget, it's the down time.

I got rid of one of my Corvettes, my other Corvette needs a rear end, the last Corvette is non-op (and not CA smog legal...even by the way it sounds), and the significant other drives the Mustang.

My Tacoma is my only means of transport now.

Front driveshaft is even easier. That you can get from any 2000’s 4WD Toyota. 4Runner, Tundra, Seqouia, etc. I got mine from a 4Runner.

I did it because I was too lazy to put my stock bumper back after welding the Relentless bumper plates on.
