I contacted Vibrant and was recommended this muffler: “The 1102 should open up the exhaust note a bit, increase flow and slightly improve fuel economy by allowing the engine to breath a bit easier.”

I think I’m going to do it. Their videos on all other cars sound deep and very good without rasp or harshness.

nope, tried a few in place of stock and very quickly went right back to stock. most sound like dogshit w/ this engine.

Send me half of what you'd pay, and I will mail you a drill bit. This is the cheapest method of getting a loud exhaust! :bananadead:

Flowmaster was the brand, all sounded like shit, the worst was the Flowmaster super 44, that one literally
sounded like the muffler had fallen off, it lasted a day and the stock went right back on. Pulled into the drive
way and the wife said "was that your new truck, what happened?" :D The best I've had it sound is how it is
currently, all stock but I cut off the tailpipe from the muffler back and bolted on a 12" turn down pipe.

Yeah I get a kick out of the threads recommending a flow master 40 series those things sound awful.

haven't tried the muffler. i have two of the Ultra Quiet 3" resonators on. the muffler is the same design with perforated open flow channeling. it should absorb the metallic better than mufflers w/o media inside. i'd be curious about it myself. i'm redoing my whole exhaust next year and haven't decided on a muffler replacement for my Spintech 3000XL.

I think it is all opinion. i may like this and you may not, but for me.
    1. stock exhaust sounds like the fan is blowing. which is wack to me.
    2. went straight pipe while waiting for my missing borla parts (3 weeks). startup sounded like a 1970 muscle car. extremely loud and sound like something was broken when flooring it. honestly was too much and sounded like shit.
    3. finally got my borla exhaust in. the engine start has a good grunt. quiet overall or maybe my sense was numbed by the straight pipe. u can hear it more than stock which is a plus for me but it wasn't annoying.

Rotmaster is dogshit on anything that isn't V8, with front to back duals, and an H-pipe. And even then they still manage to drone on some V8's.

that's what got me to try one! many said, they loved the sound and as soon as I pulled out I thought wtf are they
thinking, myself and anyone else I let listen to it said it sounded like the muffler fell off and on the highway....christ
it was awful. changed it back the next day.

Supposedly the Borla Pro XS is somehow one of the quietest performance mufflers out there. I’ve been wondering how it would sound with one in the stock location and 1 under the bed near the tip.

Well I installed my Vibrant muffler this morning. Sounds deep, bassy, and very little drone. Very quiet inside at least below about 2300rpm.

Sounds real nice inside cab. Deep bass sound on throttle at 2500 rpm or so and near quiet when cruise or and off throttle.

Been close to 500 miles. Muffler is good. Still deep bass sound on inside. From what I can hear so far with windows down is a moderate upgrade in volume. Nothing real loud like a Flowmaster. My 14 year old said when I pulled away from school it was bassy like a sub lol. I’ll grab another video soon after a good break in period. I do mostly highway.

Super 44 is basically straight piping with a box to make it "look" like you have a muffler LOL seriously though. Look at the compartments in the cross section of that thing. Ridiculous.
