    Just 3 tons of fun!!!

Just so you know... It's not all about stopping power. It's also about heat dissipation. Fully loaded, coming down out of the mountains, that's the big thing for me. The larger rotors dissipate heat better, which is probably the reason I haven't been warping rotors like I did with the stock rotors.

That's the point where I dump it into 3rd-4th based on speed and let my engine scream the whole way down the mountains :rofl:. I feel like MT/AT kind of plays into this mod as well

Yeah, as @xtremewlr notes, this isn't about performance improvement. In fact, I ran the banjo bolts on my first set of Tundra Calipers as well.

Then, I had one of them seize (IDBDR Pt. 7 - The Curse of the Lolo Motorway). Getting a replacement caliper that worked with the banjo (since the Tundra calipers are technically designed for hard lines...understandable since that's what the Tundra uses) turned out to be a royal pain.

After thinking about it (which I talk about in Rig Review: Idaho July 2019 - What worked and what didn't?), I ended up switching over to hard lines so that if I ever have a caliper go bad again, I can replace it much more easily (Making It Right: Tacoma-to-Tundra Brake Upgrade).

...and being unhappy with the cost of the LCE kit is what made me put together kits of my own.

Sorry, I know that's a lot of links to click through :)

This is my biggest concern after seeing @turbodb have issues, that it won't seal. I already bought the wheelers banjo lines thinking that's what I needed so I am going to try to make it work at this point.

Neither of the Tundra calipers I have have a machined face, but were previously used on another first gen.

Ah, thank you for the info! I am going to consider the switch! wheelers usually does 1/2 off brake lines on BF so if they do, Ill probably make the switch! I like the idea of being able to fix my rig anywhere

I second your idea of going hard lines if you're gonna do the Tundra brake swap. Might as well go fully upgraded since you have it all apart anyways and have to bleed. Nice little kit you've put together there for the group. Prolly doesn't get the love from the group as much as it should, but I can appreciate it:D:cool:

Yes, my StopTech Tacoma brake lines with Banjo bolts seal fine on my 13WL Tundra calipers.... but like @turbodb, I go deep into places and don't need a brake failure that is easily preventable. I have heard of many other cases where the banjo bolt doesn't work on tundra calipers, so I'm going to do the preventative fix before I get in that situation. :spending:

For sure I agree with you. My truck has 32's, no armor, and usually, isn't super loaded with a ton of weight other than camping gear. So I don't really have any problems with the stock stuff at all. It's just time to replace them as my brakes are getting worn.

Yeah I am at my max when it comes to how much I can throw at this current project. I wasn't even supposed to be doing the tundy's, but wanted to move the soft line mount when I did the gussets, so this is where I am now. I plan on eventually deleting ABS and doing the manual valve so I can leave that hardline upgrade for that.

Yes... I would definitely see how MT would change things. I'd still do the Tundra brakes. I can't think of anything I've done to the truck that was more worth what I paid for it.

"Modest increase"? It's more than a modest increase. It was night and day to me. Also, they are much less prone to warping (this was the biggest reason I did it, but then also saw I marked improvement in braking).

Not sure what the talk of caliper bolts rubbing coilovers is about. The caliper bolts are no where near rubbing on mine. Honestly asking, because I just put coilovers on, not too long ago. What do you mean by this?

I think he got it switched around but was referring to the issue some of us have with our stock Tacoma calipers, where the banjo bolt rubs the bottom of some coilovers (in my case my Kings) when the wheel is fully turned and stuffed. Just grazes it but enough to put a gash where it hits the coilover. It actually did loosen my banjo bolt one time and caused me to loose some brake fluid.

From what I've heard, the Tundra calipers don't have this issue.

Ok. So that mount it bull shot. It fell off the glass while driving. So don’t get the magic mount. Then I tried to put it back in and broke it.:mad::mad::mad:

It is a Bellows, so the inside has a tube in it so it stays smooth.

I'm going to have to pony up for a good one. I just bought a cheap $12 one that sticks to the dash...sure enough it was 90˚ here yesterday and the stupid thing fell off while I was driving. Going to send it back and spend more on something better, maybe that RAM mount actually.
