I have recently ordered a MGM DC 4x4 longbed. That was all I really wanted and there just wasn't one in the whole Houston area. Actually, there was one but it was a loaded out TRD with a $33,810 sticker on it!!!! and the dealer that had it didn't really want to move it that badly. SO I had to resort to ordering. I got the basics above plus the SR5 package, tow package, DRLs and that is really about it. I figured I can do shocks and wheels and stereo if I want to get it near a TRD grade of truck.

What can y'all think of that I will be missing by ordering the truck this way? Is there any major thing that the TRD comes with that I just have to have and can't add later?

Essentially, the only thing the TRD has that your model doesn't have is Bilstein shocks and possibly different rims and tires.

Do you mind me asking what you paid for your truck? What you ordered is exactly what I'm looking for.

I have been asking myself the same question as you too.

Is the front suspension the same coilover setup as on the TRD?

And I guess I am realizing the seats are actually different???

I think your fine. The only thing you get thats worth while with the TRD truck is the locker. My last 2 Tacomas have been NON TRD as I always take the front suspension off and upgrade it.

    Blue, $28k.

    Retail....

Base: $27075+2200(SR5)+660(towing)+350(security system)+40(DRL)=$30,300ish. I know I am probably leaving something off. Not the deal of the century but certainly fair since I am ordering and they have been totally straight up without any bullshyt and are giving me significantly more than the other guys on my trade in....so effectively, you could subtract that from the price as well. The deal is not final since i have not taken delivery. As long as they don't try to add any BS at the table, then it will go as planned. Also note no dealer prep fees or destination charges. SO not a bad deal on the EXACT truck I want.

What sold me on the TRD package was the interior. I think the TRD interior looks awesome! I also love the fact that everything is color matched (grill, mirrors, door handles, and rear bumper).

Chris, not sure I am following you. No locking differential? And what about the front suspension? Is is generally the same as the TRD....the TRD having Bilsteins intead of OEM Tokicko? I guess what I am getting at is the front suspension structurally the same with the only difference being the Bilstien insert?

If its not too late I say you keep looking. You should easily be able to get a TRD model for that price.

    I just got 08 DC TRD Sport 4x4 w/ tow for $25,300.

I'm thinking about offering $26,000 for a 09 DC TRD Off Road 4x4. I have a feeling that won't fly....

The TRD has Bilstien shocks and progressive springs. Stuff easilly replaced with better components as the time and $$$ allow.

No 2008s around here man....nada. Texas being THE number 1 truck market. Hell if I punch up used 05-09 Tacoma 4x4 4 door on autotrader, there is about 7 within 100 mile radius of me!!!!! The TRD I looked at mentioned above, the guy would go down to $31k and that was it not to mention he was screwing me on the trade in. I walked away. I figgered he would call me the next day to sweeten the deal....no such call....hadn't heard from him since. SO that was obviously his bottom dollar and he was gonna get some of that back on the trade in. You may have got low trade in value for your trade in(assuming here....just using you as a general example). If that is the case, then you may as well add that back into your price. It is easy to say I got mine for $xx,xxx without factoring in the trade where they may have made some of that money back. Again, not saying this was the case for you but just generalizing.

    Thanks Chris.

Good luck Blue. Doubt it will happen. Actual dealer cost on a TRD as described is about $30k. They most likely have not had 2009 on the lot for long. If that exact same truck is on their lot come NEXT October, then you are in a posoition to deal. But you can always try. I have friends in the Toyota business and I am buying as part of a corporate program which is true dealer cost + $400 bucks. Gonna be hard to beat on a 2009.

Anyway, no right price for the wrong truck IMHO. I gotta look at this thing the next 5 or so years and I don't wanna get tired of looking at it. It has to be grey,4x4,DC, and LB. Like I said, there is exactly one in the whole Houston area and it is near 34 grand MSRP.
