    A few minor things...

I have had this happen when the truck is cold before, but I've never had it happen when warm. The trans won't warm up if it's not moving unless its in service mode so your trans was probably cold and sluggish to shift. Not making excuses for that lag but just my $.02

Why I drive a manual. Shift when I want. run it up to 5000 rpm if I need. I hope you get the problem looked at. Maybe there is some sort of flash or whatever it is they do with computers nowadays.

This is going to sound weird, but with the constant improvement in car performance some intersections just aren't safe anymore.

The bog sucks. It sounds like the taco can't negotiate that turn safely, which also sucks. There are alternatives to trading in, though. You could try altering your route to avoid that turn. Even if it's the same intersection, turn left instead of right. (Inconvenient as hell, but all safety corrective actions are.) In the meantime, pester the shit out of city council to have the speed limit lowered. Or enforced. Or a stop sign. If your truck can't do it, neither can a lot of other vehicles. Someone's going to crunch metal sooner or later, sounds like.

There's a lot going on with motor and trans these days. It not like the old days where you always had full engine power, Trans sensed a vacuum drop and boom, shifts down. Plus there was a button on the floor that told it to shift rtfn.
But now, it has to decide shift only, unlock torque converter only, shift and unlock torque converter. Plus throw in moving the cams forward and backward and rotating them timing wise or both. Or any combo of all of the above.
Any time I'm in traffic or getting on interstate type things, I hit the Paul walker button.

Sorry for your situation. Sounds like you need to go to an empty road and figure out a way to drive it that will work for you. Try some hard acceleration runs in normal, ECT and in S mode. See which may prevent a future event like this. And be glad you weren't driving one of these bad boys!

I think "inexcusable" is a little harsh on the op. While I'd like to agree with you, it's not always possible. One of my two local dealers limits test drives. They have a pre-arranged test drive loop and a sales person goes with you. They would not let me do a second lap with a new vehicle so they could "keep the miles off the new cars". I was allowed to do a second lap with the used taco that I ended up buying. If you only have one option for a dealer and they limit test drives, you might make the wrong decision. I don't think too many dealers just toss you the keys and say go try it out for a couple hours. OP, have you looked into the OVtune? That seems to be all the rage for you 3rd gen guys.

LoL! That's what I do. Write reports.

In our sad lives, 6mo is pretty quick for data gathering, a study, and a report.

You can start off in 1st gear and shift through the gears, just like a manual.

Actually this is exactly what my dealer said to me....take it for a long test drive and see what you think. He didn't go with me...just gave me the keys and let me go. I just see to many posts on here complaining about things that could have easily been worked out with a test drive. If you can't test drive one how about renting one? Some dealers have "try it before you buy it" programs.

TSB 62-18... Have it applied and the transmission works like it should. Explain what happened on the road as a safety issue and the dealership should apply the TSB with no questions asked. That said, I would think that the TSB would be applied to new vehicles by now, but maybe not. My '18 Sport was in new in from the factory in June of last year and I had to have it applied. After that, it felt like a different truck.

This is one of the things that really ticked me off in the stock tune. The TSB helped a lot but not perfect.

    My advice? Get OVtune.

The latest 2.0 beta drives like a dream and final product will be even better. Truck responds predictively 99.9% of the time now truck takes off like hell when flooring it instead of the delay that it would sometimes have, specially when turning into a lane.

I found this truck goes 0-40 eventually but goes 50-80 real quick.

    Sorry to hear that OP.
I’ve heard a lot of issues with this. Thankfully I’ve never had this issue. My 16 has been a champ with everything in gear finding and fast acceleration when needed in a fairly fast response and heard it more from 16’s than 19’s. No drive train upgrades at all, one thing I wanted to leave alone with this truck. Thought it was an issue they fixed and know the 2020’s might be different in shifting points.
Glad you and the truck are okay.

If I know I’m going to be in fast moving traffic or have to make really quick decisions I’ve started preemptively putting it in ECT. I also installed a shiftsense which works well, I just don’t always use it. Not slamming the pedal also works pretty well most of the time, just not in those “oh crap” situations.

    No Sir, I do not.

Thanks for all of the feedback! And thanks for letting me vent, LOL

I'll probably go the OVTune route after Christmas. Santa don't care about my truck situation, LOL
